Andy Reid Watch - 2010 Edition
Andy Reid Watch - 2010 Edition
I'm putting my over/under for Eagles wins this season at 8.5 games.
They could conceivably be 5-2 going into the bye and still miss the playoffs. Second half of the season is just brutal. Of course, schedules always look a lot different after the first four or five games once you really know how good teams are gonna be in a particular season, so who knows.
So whatcha got? Over or under 8.5?
My only caveat is that the 8.5 is based on a loss to Green Bay this evening. If they pull the upset, my o/u changes to 9.5.

Disagree. You saw a Packers team yesterday that had gameplanned for the typical Eagles WCO game. Vick was a wrinkle they hadn't prepared for. Now every team will pull out its 2004 Atlanta Falcons preparation plans, put a spy on Vick, and let his arm and indecision be his downfall. I saw the Eagles do it to him so many times.Gil Dobie wrote:If Vick plays Andy stays with a winning record and playoffs.
I'm going with the under. The Eagles are fvcked this year. Hope I'm wrong.

I'm with you. It looked like the Packers had 15 defenders out there for most of yesterday.93henfan wrote:I'm going with the under. The Eagles are fvcked this year. Hope I'm wrong.

In the past, it seemed no matter how much the Packers worked on stopping Vick, they couldn't stop him.93henfan wrote:Disagree. Nope, you're right, the Eagles look screwed. I honestly don't know if Kolb can be an NFL QB - his arm strength seems to get weaker and weaker with every game. Brutal.89Hen wrote:I'm with you. So how about those Ravens and UD-alum Joe Flacco?
Seriously, am I allowed to invoke the "I don't technically live in Pennsylvania" clause and transfer my loyalty for one season to a team that's basically the same distance from my house?

Shit, I live in Maryland and have had my "Wacko 4 Flacco" poster in my office for two years. Wore green yesterday (also got a hideous pair of black Reebok Eagles shoes at the outlets from Mrs89), but I might have to invest in some purple duds this week. Let's see how tonight pans out.93henfan wrote:So how about those Ravens and UD-alum Joe Flacco?![]()

Jeezis. I guess Mike Oher forgot about that movie they made about him because he's a friggin' turnstile tonight, the same as his counterpart on the right side. Joe's taking a beating early.89Hen wrote:Shit, I live in Maryland and have had my "Wacko 4 Flacco" poster in my office for two years. The Eagles are so fvcked. Kolb and Bradley both failed their neurological tests this morning, so they're both out Sunday, if not far longer. DelState's Jamaal Jackson and Leonard Weaver are both done for the year.
The only saving grace is that an equally injury-riddled Lions squad is on the sched this week.
Forget the Eagles over/under. I'd now put the over/under on wins by the NFC East champ this year at 9.5. This division is looking pretty humble so far.

It was always going to be a bad year for the NFC East - had to play the NFC North (GB and Minn) and also play the AFC South (Indy, Houston, Tenn, Jax). But yeah, no one looks any good and people vastly overestimated the cowboys. Should only be one playoff team from the NFC East this year (and it's very unlikely for it to be the Eagles, although they should be 1-1 pretty easily this week).93henfan wrote:The Eagles are so fvcked. Yup, wide open race for the NFC East, anybody could win it, and then get to be embarassed in the first round of the playoffs (well, maybe it will be the second round, depending on which wild card team they draw). Just not very pretty at all.93henfan wrote:Tied for the division lead!

Re: Andy Reid Watch - 2010 Edition
The Eagles are about to announce the Michael Vick will be the starter for the rest of the year.
After saying yesterday that Kolb will be the starter next week there has been a change of heart. Sounds like the organization (not just Reid) have decided that Vick is playing to well to sit on the bench and that he gives the team a better chance to win right now.

Re: Andy Reid Watch - 2010 Edition
I think they also see his trade value going from about a fourth rounder to a second rounder (dare I say low first with an unexpected playoff run?). It also saves Kolb some face in what's shaping up to most likely be a pretty humble season for the Eagles. With Jamaal Jackson already gone for the year, no Leonard Weaver either, Peters going out every other play with a sore vagina, Herremans a ticking injury time bomb, etc, etc... it ain't pretty.BlueHen86 wrote:The Eagles are about to announce the Michael Vick will be the starter for the rest of the year.![]()

Mortensen was saying "Until further notice" on Sports Center last night.
This is what I was thinking... the O-line turned from swiss cheese into feta crumbles. Do you want a QB who is a solid pocket passer or a QB who is mobile?93henfan wrote:

Vick should be the easy pick for the starting job. The only reason he isn't is because the Eagles released McNabb because they had so much confidence in Kolb. I'm not saying Kolb is bad but Vick is too good not to start.
Added Vick to my fantasy team but I already have Aaron Rodgers starting, otherwise I would definitely start Vick on my team.

There's plenty of room on the ravens bandwagon for you limp wristed Eagles fans, all the purple idiots are jumping off this week.
Salantonio was talking about Eagles wanting to trade Kolb now? WTF, I can't see that happening. What a wreck that would be.

Well, on the one bright side, there's a bunch of teams that now have to scrap any gameplan they had for facing the Eagles in order to contend with Vick.
I'm okay with the move - I think they need to eventually see if Kolb can play or not, but with the NFC East being so winnable right now and with Vick playing as well as he is and with all the weapons available on offense (outside of an offensive line of course) it's a good move and the Eagles will win a good share of games.

I was thinking that Reid shouldn't have publicly announced this move. Let the next opponent (Jacksonville) gameplan for Kolb and then be suprised when Vick starts.GannonFan wrote:Well, on the one bright side, there's a bunch of teams that now have to scrap any gameplan they had for facing the Eagles in order to contend with Vick.

Well, teams typically gameplan on Sunday night, Monday, and Tuesday, so Jax would've already done most of their work for Kolb. But you can't do that every week - teams will catch on obviously.BlueHen86 wrote:I was thinking that Reid shouldn't have publicly announced this move. I don't disagree with anything you posted. But I still think waiting until Sunday and then unveiling Vick might have been the better move.GannonFan wrote:Well, teams typically gameplan on Sunday night, Monday, and Tuesday, so Jax would've already done most of their work for Kolb. I think the NFL would frown on such a move however, there might even be fines involved.
Re: Andy Reid Watch - 2010 Edition
As much as I dislike Mike Vick the human being, I agree that having Mike Vick the QB as starter is the Eagles' best chance for winning now.
I can't help but notice though, that this is completely out of character for Andy Reid. The guy has been, if nothing else, a sometimes baffling combination of stubborn and loyal. Why did he all of a sudden get a case of backtracking?
This begs the question, is Andy Reid a puppet? Did Jeff Lurie and the NFL, knowing that the story will drive up ratings, make the call here? It's no secret that the NFL is having a tough time filling a few of the stadiums the Eagles visit this year and this clearly won't hurt TV ratings either.
