Stinking No Fun League....

Post by SuperHornet »

I'm shocked the Cowboys didn't get flagged for excessive celebration after their receivers shook hands after that last touchdown....

Miles Austin getting called for that was the CORRECT CALL, going by the rule.

Deal with it, and go back to thinking your Siren's are better than most mens teams.

Under current rules (or at least current INTERPRETATION of said rules), you are correct, clenz. But I would argue that that interpretation is WAY off base. It's not as if Austin punked out any particular Viking.

He wasn't called for taunting, so it doesn't matter if he "punked" a Viking.

He was called for excessive demonstration, correct call.

It's a dumb rule, but the players are aware of it. If they can't adhere to it it's on them and not the refs or the NFL.

I'm not objecting to the call as much as the presence of that bogus rule. I firmly believe ratings (read: $$) would go back up if they'd allow a modern Smurfs group and a Mark Gastineau sack dance.

Yep...millions of people who don't watch and buy jersey's would start watching and buying jerseys if we let players play leap frog after every play

Take away fantasy football, and a lot of people would be bored with the state of today's NFL.

Fantasy football is saving the NFL. I really don't find the NFL that entertaining. I'll watch college football until I'm blue in the face, but the NFL is just too... bland. Too many personalities, too much complacency. College football is all about history and tradition.. the NFL is all about money and contracts. I dunno.. too hard to sit through an entire NFL game until the playoffs start.

Agreed, for the most part, but I do love the NFL.

The thing that makes college more interesting than the NFL is the theatrics that go along with the game itself. Each school has their own thing that makes it awesome. The NFL doesn't have that. Every game is run about the same way.

The other thing CFB has the NFL doesn't is "fun" offenses. It's "boring" for a vast majority of people to watch two teams run a pro style offense for 4 quarters, compared to Shot gun on every play, options, reverses, etc...

In other news...

The NFL's attempt to teach players to not play like dumbasses and dam near get themselves killed still isn't quite going through.

Dunta Robinson attempts to kill himself and DeSean Jackson:

And they are supposed to be PROFESSIONALS, not a freak show or circus act. Wade wants to bitch at the refs, wonder if he ever considered actually taking control over the Cowboys and having some respect from his players.

I think instituting an old fashioned dress code together with appearance requirements as well as personal conduct guidelines being strictly enforced would bring the audience the league would really like to have back to them, the respectable folks.

Yes, a faster, bigger and stronger NFL game is much more boring to watch than a college football game.
