Under the universal recycling program, waste haulers will provide recycling collection to all single-family homes in Delaware, as well as bars and restaurants, by Sept. 15.
We've had curbside recycling in place for two years already in Kent County and our tax bills were adjusted accordingly. That bill will not be reduced once this new tax starts. The new tax serves no purpose, in my case, but to disincentivize me from returning bottles for credit. I'll give you an example. I went to UMass this weekend and saved all of our glass bottles in a bag. With this new law in place, those would have gone right in the closest dumpster in UMass Lot 22.
