Very deserving, IMHO.

Most deserving for both, and I think both will help their teams continue in their winning ways...

In other words, I don't think they are flashes in the pan...

I saw Longoria lots more than Sota...he is fast and sure in the field, and a terror at bat...

One thing I don't like about the way the DBacks handle their rookies....they will RARELY have a rookie who has the opportunity to win the ROY. They usually bring them up late in the year, but get them too many AB's to qualify the NEXT year....

But it generally makes them better the next year.

Reynolds and Upton were not supposed to be called up so soon, but injuries dictated the call-ups.

Yeah...I'm talking more about Drew....Upton didn't HAVE to be called up. They didn't HAVE to let Quentin go...

Yeah...I'm talking more about Drew....Upton didn't HAVE to be called up. They didn't HAVE to let Quentin go...
it was CQ's injury that forced the early call up of Upton, and Drew wouldn't have won even if eligible ;)

I DO realize that, Jon. But, in reality THIS year should have been Drew's rookie year. He really had no business being in the bigs in '06 or '07. The D-Backs over-the-top focus on youth probably stunted or delayed the development of several of these guys (Drew, Young, Upton, Jackson, Reynolds)...If they'd perfected their trade in AAA for a couple years, they'd be SCARY good next year (and might have been scarier good this year too)...

I have to disagree on Drew. He took his lumps last year, but learned and grew from them, and is turning into a top-flight SS, something that would have been hard to do at AAA.

But on the flipside, I think the early callups have stunted the progression of Young, Upton, Jackson and Reynolds.

I don't know the first thing about the NL guy. But the AL guy is right on. I'm quite glad that he's a Big West guy, too. About the only guy I would have put over him would have been his teammate Bartlett, who hails from Lodi. Of course, I'm a bit biased about that.
