flipping through the channels, I happen across "Catching Hell" on one of the ESPNs, a documentary about the Steve Bartman incident.
I find the whole thing absurd.
Not just the whole Cubs collapse after the incident,
but the fact that EVERYONE around Bartman was reaching for the ball just as much as he was, it just happened to hit him.

Re: Catching Hell
The Buckner set up provides great context.
So many factors, yet one that is remembered.
My biggest heart break as a sports fan was Oregon's Dennis Dixon ripping his knee apart on the way to the Heisman Trophy one year at Arizona. Everyone at Oregon blamed a little known receiver, Derrik Jones, for letting a touchdown slip out of his grasp to put Oregon up 18-0. Of course, we all know the rest.
Little did everyone know Dennis his ACL the week before against Arizona State, and Bellotti was playing him anyway.
Funny how we all need to find a scapegoat.
