The Idiocy of Washington Pt. 2
The Idiocy of Washington Pt. 2
They're thinking of delaying the transition from analog to digital TV signals to give idiots extra time to figure this out. Been warning us for 4 years and congress is bending over backwards for fukcing morons and lazy azzes. This aint as big of a deal as AZ's gripe, but this shit pisses me off. Fukcing nanny state.
"Sarah Palin absolutely blew AWAY the audience tonight. If there was any doubt as to whether she was savvy enough, tough enough or smart enough to carry the mantle of Vice President, she put those fears to rest tonight. She took on Barack Obama DIRECTLY on every issue and exposed... She did it with warmth and humor, and came across as the every-person....it's becoming mroe and more clear that she was a genius pick for McCain."

Absolutely. The fact that federal money is being used to subsidize this whole thing chaps my ass too. The right to watch TV is not guaranteed anywhere in the constitution.
Not to mention the mass confusion surrounding the whole switch. The country is filled to the brim with freakin' retards.

I don't have a problem with the subsidy - the sale of the analog channels will make the goverment far more than the converter boxes are costing.Mountaineer wrote:Absolutely. To postpone it again is stupid, though.

Fukc, it's a great move for politicians. They COUNT on us watching an assload of TV. We're distracted and stupid and they stay in office. We're watching Dancing With The Stars, meanwhile they're stealing our money and bombing brown skinned people.Mountaineer wrote:Absolutely. The idea to to watch TMZ and know more about Britneys life the whats happening to our country. Through in some scare tactic messages about recessions and war and you got them hooked. We live in fast paced world now where people don;t slow down for details.D1B wrote:Fukc, it's a great move for politicians. They COUNT on us watching an assload of TV. Danger is that all these folks looking at antenna signals on their old tubes will be forced to enter the modern TV world, Faux news and all. Like we need more douche-bots running around the retirement homes, trailer parks, and cafes regurgitating Hannity and O'Reily fascism hurl on innocent honest American citizens.
This is exactly how plagues are spread.

Sad that more people vote for American Idol than in political elections.

I completely agree, just another move by the unified parties in Washington to hold onto power. This is ridiculous. The whole thing is utter BS.
There's only two "shows" I watch (now that Survivorman is done) and that's Scrubs and The Office. Outside of that, TV viewing is relegated to sports, news, and the History Channel (Discovery, NatGeo, Science).

Hell, Obama LOVES him some TV. He got elected because of our American Idol mentality and attention span.

Personally that's how I think Dubya got elected. Obama's victory was primarily the result of hard work and flawless execution of a campaign. It also signified a changing of the guard and sent the Boomers to the nursing homes for good. Thank god.AZGrizFan wrote:D1B wrote:

Actually, bot Dubya AND Obama got elected because of that 8-year pendulum. WTF is this country going to do when Obama's not alive in 4 years to reelect?D1B wrote:Personally that's how I think Dubya got elected. House defeats bill to delay digital TV transition
Bucking the Obama administration, House Republicans on Wednesday defeated a bill to postpone the upcoming transition from analog to digital television broadcasting to June 12 — leaving the current Feb. 17 deadline intact for now.
The 258-168 vote failed to clear the two-thirds threshold needed for passage. It's a victory for the GOP members, who warn that postponing the transition would confuse consumers.
The House Republicans say a delay also would burden wireless companies and public safety agencies waiting for the spectrum that will be vacated by the switchover, and create added costs for television stations that would have to continue broadcasting both analog and digital signals for four more months.

They did work hard and they ran a good campaign, but it helped that the buffoon that preceeded them was about as bad as a President can be. As for the TV thing, what a joke.D1B wrote:Personally that's how I think Dubya got elected. Obama's victory was primarily the result of hard work and flawless execution of a campaign.
