But the overall half of the bracket Eastern is in is quite a bit tougher than the upper half. This all balances out. Shoot, we're only two years removed from when Eastern was ranked #1 and drew a 5 seed.

I have absolutely no doubt that on any given week, Albany could have played with anyone in the Big Sky this year. Not every week in and week out because of lack of depth and scholarships, but we were as athletic and strong as any team and would have matched up at just about every position. This is the first year that I've seen the same level of talent in the NEC that we saw OOC.

I wouldn't put much weight in a result from 4 seasons ago. The NEC has been adding choker ships every year and scheduling tougher and tougher and I've seen first hand at Albay that the level of play has gone up dramatically from those early scholarship years.

My Second line was an aside. I do think Wagner is a much better team this year. NDSU won 3 games that year and 2 year later a National Championship. Wagner wins the NEC this year and beat the PL champ already in the playoffs.

So what?

Let's not forget that in addition to shutting out a very good Albany team, Wagner played an 85-scholarship FAU team and held them to just 7 points. Wagner has less than 40-scholarships.

Wagner just held Colgate to less than half of their average in points and yards per game. In fact is most opponents perform below their capability vs. Wagner. That is the sign of a good team and a good defense.

Wagner hasn't thrown an INT vs. a FCS team this year (200+ attempts). They don't make many mistakes and that will keep them in most games.

Also, let's not forget just 2 seasons ago Robert Morris put up a hell of a game at North Dakota State in the playoffs.

RMU was down only 20-17 with 12:05 left in the game. NDSU pulled away in the final 8 minutes due to the depth and talent of that team.

NDSU is the best team in the country, I don't think many people expect them lose. But it is a mistake to disrespect any team in the playoffs, for every blowout win, there are upsets too.
