He singlehandedly made the SEC a powerhouse in D1 basketball.Long live the man known as "The boy with the sad eyes"!!!!He has been gone for 25 yrs 1-5-88!!! He is the only player to have a stadium named in his honor.He is the only white player ever asked to join the Harlem Globetrotters.

Granted but don't forget dear old dad.His father Press Maravich had a ball in his hands by the time he could walk.He set up all types of ball handling exercises for him as a child to improve his ball handling skill.As a 8th grader he made his high school's varsity basketball squad in his hometown of Broughton,NC.Ppl don't know but Maravich was born in Aliquippa,Pa.
