Perhaps to assuage bad feelings after having traded for twenty-something Vancouver netminder Cory Schneider, the New Jersey Devils sent proud papa Martin Brodeur to the lectern with the seventh-round pick of his son Anthony. But this may be a bit more than just a bit of a nod to the elder statesman. The younger Brodeur has been something of a force in the junior ranks. While his GAA went up a tad this season (still a respectable 2.48), his save percentage went up to .920 and his shutouts increased one, in one fewer game.
It might be tough for young Anthony to break through (at least immediately) given the presence of two accomplished 40-somethings not yet ready to retire and a new talented 20-something in the locker room. But some seasoning in the AHL and/or ECHL could give the Devils something to think about here.

Devils pick up Brodeur Jr in NHL Draft

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

This was pretty cool. As a long-time Devils fan, and Brodeur fan, it's a special moment.SuperHornet wrote:Perhaps to assuage bad feelings after having traded for twenty-something Vancouver netminder Cory Schneider, the New Jersey Devils sent proud papa Martin Brodeur to the lectern with the seventh-round pick of his son Anthony.
