Wake Forest buys Joel Coliseum from city for $8M

WINSTON-SALEM — Wake Forest University says it has completed its purchase of Joel Coliseum from the city of Winston-Salem.

The school announced its purchase Thursday. City Manager Lee Garrity told The Associated Press that the price was $8 million and that the school has committed to spend $10 million in capital improvements.

City Council approved the sale in May.

Wake Forest owns the 15,000-seat arena and the 33 surrounding acres.

And these are the guys beating on me for years to give them even MORE money. :ohno:

Wake already bought out the minor league baseball team's stadium a few years ago....they're building a pretty nice off campus athletic area between Grove Stadium, the baseball field, and Joel Coliseum.

Joel is a nice sized place...probably around 14K but we really need a coach. Dino Gaudio anyone? :coffee:
