Mount St. Joe's freshman basketball player Lauren Hill, still fighting pediatric brain cancer, was awarded an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters in a well-attended private ceremony tonight. Among the few who have received this award from MSJ is astronaut Neil Armstrong. Hill was honored not only for her personal fight against cancer, but her drive to raise funds for research to eradicate the disease.

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.
