There is no separate preseason poll that I recall. There is some audio from Media Day with coach's comments here:

I read that in the first 15 or so years of the GFC preseason poll, it was right predicting the #1 team 12 out of 15 times. In the last 10 or something years, it has predicted it right just twice.

So as of now, the latest percentages would say UNI will not win the Gateway in 2007.

YSU has won the Gateway and a share of it the last 2 years; so I say the target is on the Penguins back. I still think UNI Wins the Gateway this year by going 5-1 and outdoing YSU who's loss will be to UNI.

Bottom Line: Gateway can have 4 teams with real good shots at playoff berths in 2007 if they all play up to what they are capable of playing!

UNI and YSU will make the playoffs and a coin flip will determine who makes it between Illionis St. and Southern Illionis. Heck four teams could make it probably.

It could be huge for both Hampton and SIU depending on how they do earlier in the season. Berths and/or seeds could well be on the line.
