Push to Dump Trump

Post by SuperHornet »

There seems to be a grassroots movement of sorts in the Republican Party to divest themselves of that liability known as Donald Trump. The idea is that the delegates would open the Convention by passing a "conscience clause," which would wipe out the requirement that delegates are bound to vote according to the results of their primary/caucus. Trump, of course, is calling the whole thing illegal, and claims that party chair Reince Priebus agrees with him. State law is also involved in some cases. Digging around, though, seems to indicate that whatever the delegates do at the national Convention supersedes state law.

I'm not sure whether any of that will actually work. Party bigwigs are upset because if this movement works, then the perception is that the GOP will no longer be a functioning party. So far, the movement is small, focused on a Colorado school teacher who just happens to be a disgruntled Cruz supporter, though they at least claim not to support any particular candidate. She DOES happen to be on the rules committee, and claims that her "permission slip" (her words, not mine) was "signed" by Paul Ryan. I wonder what that might mean given that he doesn't really have a horse in the fight, particularly after long ago stating that he would decline any floor nomination.

I'm decidedly anti-Trump, but this doesn't seem to be the right way to go about it. I think the best thing for the GOP to do is write 2016 off as a lost cause regardless of who wins in November and make a concerted effort to get a decent candidate nominated and elected in 2020.

The GOP needs to just shut up and accept what they brought upon themselves. They'll have 4 years to get their house in order and do some long-needed soul searching on where they are and where they should be

Not that that will happen. They'll just spend 4 years blaming everything on the newest Donk boogeyman and becoming more embittered and useless. And all the fat angry white guys will get fatter, whiter, and angrier, and push some other joker to the nomination in 2020.

Conservatives will blame the parasite class for the current state of political affairs and will be correct in their assessment

You're right. The dems gave us a criminal and a socialist for choices. And the reps managed to find a candidate that would make the dems competitive despite that. I hate to agree with a Griz fan, but I think Brock is right.

At the rate Drumpf's "campaign" is going -- no staff, no donations, no ads -- he'll dump himself. What an amateur.

1). Corporate money tends to win elections. It's legalized bribery.

2). America has a mean democratic socialist streak that reaches beyond just your run of the mill hippie.

Both had a solid chance to beat anyone the Republicans nominated.

Trump is a lot of things but he is a significantly better choice than Clinton and is isn't even close. I am not a Trump guy, he was probably my last choice in the Republican field but we cannot have Clinton picking SCOTUS justices, Trump already released what his choices would be and they are real solid. Trump's court picks and his position on immigration is what I am voting on.

Riddle me this, Batman. Assume we achieve instant Klam Utopia and abolish all corporate donations. Assume further that, on top of that, we give Kalm an orgasm (no homo) by publicly financing all federal elections and finding a Constitutional way to limit private donations. Wouldn't that just entrench all the incumbents that you claim to hate so much?

Maybe I need to read more of your "work" but your ire seems to be primarily aimed at the Repubs when the Democrats have rolled out the two worst candidates I have ever seen and I cast my first vote in 1980. I am more of a Libertarian than I am a Republican but in this case, Trump is a far better pick that either of Dems just on the Supreme Court issue alone.

But you are right, the Republicans, at least in recent memory, never cease to disappoint when it comes to POTUS candidates, but the voters get what they deserve, on both sides of the aisle.

Trump is turning into even more of kalm's perfect candidate. Upset about campaign finance ruining and corrupting politicians? Perfect, Trump's not going to raise any money and hence not be beholden to anyone. He should be thrilled that Trump isn't raising any money. Where's the love for the Donald, kalm? First he parrots your economic manifesto, now he's doing the same with campaign finance. Where on your body are you going to put your Trump tattoo?

OK, gotcha. So Bernie's horde of $27 givers would ensure perfect democracy, with consistent turnover of office holders. Check. End of debate.

These Never Trump retards are still stuck on stupid. These idiots don't realize that if they were able to steal the nomination from Trump that it would cause such a backlash that Hildacunt might literally win all 50 states.. :dunce:

They are too stupid to realize Trump is the nominee and there's not a damn thing they can do about it.
