Target Field update (Twins new home)
Target Field update (Twins new home)
I can't wait for this place to open, it looks to be AMAZING. From what I've heard from buddies of mine who have driven past it lately is that it is going to be one of the best places to watch baseball in all of the majors.

Sweet!
I was out there for a couple games in 07 and the metrodome just doesn't cut it for baseball.

only took us 10 years of lobbying...
second proudest day of my career was the day the Gov signed that bill at the Metrodome... outstanding.

I'm looking at heading up to a game or two sometime in July to say goodbye to the old bird. How many games do you attend/what do you think are the best seats?TwinTownBisonFan wrote:only took us 10 years of lobbying...

I'm also headed to a Rockies/Cubs game August 7th....can't wait to watch the Cubs freakin loose.

or behind the plate, upper deck...
there just aren't any good seats in the dome. the section in the lower bowl, first base side all the way in the corner has some good angled seats... but only okay...

Re: Target Field update (Twins new home)
I haven't been to a Twins game in a couple years for a couple reasons, the last time I was there I was 3rd base line about 20 rows up. It was bad. Only shitty part was I went to the bathroom in the between the bottom of the 5th and top of the 6th and a foul ball literally hit my empty seat on my way back down...I was pissed.

Yep, but from the sounds of the amenities you shouldn't have trouble staying warm.MrTitleist wrote:Man that's going to be a chilly place in October..

no moreso than any other park...MrTitleist wrote:Man that's going to be a chilly place in October..
during the final negotiations on the bill, we presented to the legislature, we did a weather study the findings:
6-8 games a year to rainout - comparable to detroit, chicago and cleveland. and while the weather is chilly the first two weeks and the playoffs... 73 games/year in the all-to-short minnesota summertime... count me in.

Re: Target Field update (Twins new home)
I still think the new field would have been badass with a retractable roof. Because my question is this...when it comes time for April every season, what usually happens in Minnesota? Snow. They're gonna end up playing some games in the Metrodome even after Target Field opens.

no... they won't.Willie wrote:I still think the new field would have been badass with a retractable roof. they'll have double headers or use the empty dates in april... or they'll play *gasp* day games.
but we went round and round with the legislature about this... it's about 7 games a season impacted by weather... that's it.
as for the roof... we made a pitch to the legislature $100 million from outstate to put a roof on it... personally i think it would have been an ugly shatshow... having been to milwaukee, where it feels like an arena.. same with phoenix... you can keep the roofs... i'll take outdoor baseball.

I've been to Arizona's, Seattle's, and Houston's. Personally I love the retractable roofs. Because you're assuring that baseball will be played on the days it's scheduled. That's why Miami is going with it as well.

... seattle's is alot different from what i've been told. but i can't be down with enron's arena feel... minnesotans will bitch... because that's what they do... but it'll be nice to see the sky again, and not have the $100 million bill hanging over our heads for a roof.Willie wrote:I've been to Arizona's, Seattle's, and Houston's. i think the twins are building the first of a new generation of jewelbox classics. forced to be innovative by siting... quirky by need... not design... i think that's a winner.
esp the left field bleachers.
