Big Sky

lind 31-59 EWU

NAU 41-65 UA
UNA 17-61 UMT
SEMO 17-38 MTST
NOCO 17-59 WSU
UND 7-38 NDSU

    NConf Record: 8-4
    Overall: 13-12

    vs. FCS: 3-2
    Overall: 7-2

Best Performance: (#13) Montana St. 38, (#12) Southeast Missouri St. 17 - The Bobcats score touchdowns on all four of their third-quarter drives to break things open against another one of last year's round-of-16 squads.

Worst Performance: Southern Utah 14, (#11) Northern Iowa 34 - The T-Birds fall behind 34-0 and still have yet to show they've improved from last year's 1-10 debacle.

Most Surprising Result: North Dakota 7, (#1) North Dakota St. 38 - I know starting QB Nate Ketteringham was out, but I figured NoDak's defense would at least provide some resistance.

Southland

txwes 13-58 HBU
azchr 14-66 ACU
tarl 37-26 SFA
opsu 0-77 SHSU
MVSU 20-23 LAM (OT)

    Overall: 10-10

    vs. FCS: 3-0
    Overall: 5-1

Best Performance: (#20) Central Arkansas 24, Austin Peay 16 - Lujuan Winningham catches 2 touchdowns in the fourth quarter to help the Bears get the last win in Clarksville.

Worst Performance: Northwestern St. 7, (DII) Midwestern St. 33 - I picked the Demons to lose here, but I definitely didn't see that kind of margin coming. :?

Most Surprising Result: Lamar 23, Mississippi Valley St. 20 (OT) - There's now some reason to believe MVSU is improved, but an overtime win over them still doesn't inspire confidence in a playoff return for the Cardinals.

Missouri Valley

UND 7-38 NDSU
SDK 14-70 OU
LIU 3-38 SDKST
SUU 14-34 UNI
MHEAD 14-42 ILST

    Overall: 8-11

    vs. FCS: 5-1
    Overall: 7-5

Best Performance: (#1) North Dakota St. 38, North Dakota 7 - The Bison show no signs of decline as they outrush their in-state rivals 266-68.

Worst Performance: (#14) Indiana St. 35, Dayton 42 - 358 rushing yards aren't enough for the Sycamores against a non-scholarship team.

Most Surprising Result: (#14) Indiana St. 35, Dayton 42 - In an 8-day span, the Sycamores have gone from strong playoff contender to desperate long shot.

OVC

SEMO 17-38 MTST
EIU 0-52 IU

    NConf Record: 1-8
    Overall: 8-10

    vs. FCS: 1-2
    Overall: 7-3

Best Performance: (#18) Jacksonville St. 41, Tennessee-Chattanooga 20 - Zerrick Cooper throws for 344 yards on just 26 attempts and accounts for 4 total touchdowns as the Gamecocks get their 6th. straight win over the Mocs.

Worst Performance: Tennessee Tech 17, (FBS) Miami (OH) 48 - The Golden Eagles are outscored 31-0 in the second quarter by a MAC team.

Most Surprising Result: Tennessee St. 26, (FBS) Middle Tennessee St. 45 - After barely beating Mississippi Valley, the Tigers were within 5 of an FBS team halfway through the fourth quarter.

Pioneer League

UCD 38-35 USD
truman 10-7 DRAKE
iwu 27-30 BUT (OT)
DAY 42-35 INST
MARIST 3-43 GTOWN

    vs. FCS: 1-3
    Overall: 2-8

Best Performance: Dayton 42, (#14) Indiana St. 35 - The Flyers get their biggest poll-ranking upset ever thanks to Jack Cook's 303 yards of total offense and 4 total touchdowns.

Worst Performance: Marist 3, Georgetown 43 - The Red Foxes are embarrassed by a team that lost to Davidson last week.

Most Surprising Result: Dayton 42, (#14) Indiana St. 35 - Dayton picks up their first win over a current MVFC team since they beat Youngstown in 1977.

Tomorrow: the rest of the playoff conferences.

I have to be honest, I was going to try to disagree with you about SUU being the worst performance again this week, but going game by game I decided I couldn't. Im glad they ended up scoring 14 in the second half but that was too little too late. Looks like another season of dragging our balls through a mile of broken glass.

I though about going with Idaho, but CWU is typically a good DII team so I didn't.

I kicked around NAU vs UA but they kept it a decent score despite UA being an iffy FBS team so far.

Patriot League

LEH 10-38 NOVA
LAF 21-24 MONM
BUCK 10-30 SACHRT
FORD 29-57 BALL
UNH 10-13 HC
MARIST 3-43 GTOWN

    NConf Record: 2-4
    Overall: 2-12

    vs. FCS: 2-3
    Overall: 2-8

Best Performance: Holy Cross 13, New Hampshire 10 - After the Crusader offense was tackled a couple yards short of the endzone on fourth down, a fumble was forced by Liam Doran and recovered in the endzone by Joe Lang for the game-winning score.

Worst Performance: Bucknell 10, Sacred Heart 30 - Previous Bucknell teams could at least claim a decent defense. This Bucknell squad is currently allowing 601 yards-per-game.

Most Surprising Result: Georgetown 43, Marist 3 - This is the first time the Hoyas have broken the 40-point barrier since 2013.

NEC

SFPA 7-44 JMU
walsh 3-44 DUQ
kyst 13-7 RMU
LIU 3-38 SDKST

BUCK 10-30 SACHRT

    NConf Record: 2-5
    Overall: 5-9

    vs. FCS: 1-3
    Overall: 3-5

Best Performance: Sacred Heart 30, Bucknell 10 - Pioneer QB Logan Marchi throws for 316 yards and 3 touchdowns while RB Julius Chestnut puts up 187 total yards and 3 total TDs.

Worst Performance: Robert Morris 7, (DII) Kentucky St. 13 - Just when you thought the Colonial program might be improving, they put up just 217 yards on a DII opponent.

Most Surprising Result: Robert Morris 7, (DII) Kentucky St. 13 - Did I mention that Kentucky State was a winless DII last year?
    :thefan:

CAA

    NConf Record: 5-5
    Overall: 12-9

    vs. FCS: 5-1
    Overall: 12-2

Best Performance: (#6) Maine 18, (FBS) Georgia Southern 26 - The Black Bears play tough against one of the Sun Belt's good teams.

Worst Performance: New Hampshire 10, Holy Cross 13 - The Wildcats fall to Holy Cross again despite not allowing an offensive touchdown.

Most Surprising Result: New Hampshire 10, Holy Cross 13 - UNH has now lost 5 straight games in September.

Big South

LAF 21-24 MONM
vuu 36-17 HAMP
GWEBB 9-48 ECU

UNA 17-61 UMT

    NConf Record: 2-6
    Overall: 5-10

    vs. FCS: 1-2
    Overall: 2-3

Best Performance: (#9) Kennesaw St. 23, (FBS) Kent St. 26 (OT) - I actually expected the Owls to win this game, but the rest of the Big South put together a rather sorry lot of performances.

Worst Performance: Hampton 17, (DII) Virginia Union 36 - Even last year's weak Pirate squad with little to play for managed to go undefeated against lower-division foes.

Most Surprising Result: Hampton 17, (DII) Virginia Union 36 - This was actually the first time these two historical rivals had met since Hampton moved up to DI in 1995

SoCon

mhu 21-63 VMI
WCU 0-41 NCSU

    Overall: 3-6

Best Performance: (#17) Furman 42, (FBS) Georgia St. 48 - Freshman Darren Grainger puts up 376 yards of total offense, 5 total touchdowns, and a 225.3 efficiency rating in the Paladins' near upset of the Volunteer killers.

Worst Performance: Tennessee-Chattanooga 20, (#18) Jacksonville St. 41 - This was UTC's 6th. straight loss to JSU, but the previous 5 losses only came by a combined 29 points.

Most Surprising Result: (#17) Furman 42, (FBS) Georgia St. 48 - The last time Furman beat an FBS team they went 4-7, so maybe it's good they lost?

MEAC

HOW 28-54 YSU

NCAT 13-45 DUKE
NCCEN 3-42 TOW

    NConf Record: 2-3
    Overall: 5-9

    vs. FCS: 0-2
    Overall: 3-4

Best Performance: Norfolk St. 44, (DII) Virginia St. 21 - The Spartans win turnovers 6-0 in beating VSU for the 9th. time in the last 10 meetings.

Worst Performance: Howard 28, Youngstown St. 54 - Kyle Anthony had 10 catches for 146 yards and 3 touchdowns, but that wasn't nearly enough to overcome a 454-133 rushing disadvantage.

    Most Surprising Result: (none)

SWAC

TXSO 44-63 UIW
PVAMU 17-37 UH
GRAM 14-20 LATECH

mscoll 7-45 ALCORN

    NConf Record: 2-6
    Overall: 3-13

    vs. FCS: 0-2
    Overall: 0-5

Best Performance: Grambling 14, (FBS) Louisiana Tech 20 - The Tigers shut out LA Tech in the second half and outgained them 317-134 in that frame, but failing to score inside the 10-yard line three times (including once in the first half) did them in.

Worst Performance: Alabama A&M 34, Arkansas-Pine Bluff 52 - Not only did the Bulldogs lose to a team they blew out last year, they gave up the most points they've ever allowed to UAPB.

Most Surprising Result: Mississippi Valley St. 20, Lamar 23 (OT) - Two close losses to halfway decent teams? Could "terrible" and "Mississippi Valley State football" actually not be synonymous for once?

1) Is it me, or does the SWAC seem to be slowly improving?

2). UNH will still get in the playoffs. It’s been at least one whole season since they have and they did the last time they lost to the crusaders.

3). The despite the schollie increase, the NEC appears to be on par with the PL.
