Big Sky Predictions 10-22
After the results from last week, there are some interesting games on tap for this weekend. Everybody plays in the conference and some intriguing matchups in the conference. So far for the year, I am at 47-9, and have only missed one game in the last three weeks. But the picks get tougher this weekend and will only get more tough as the season goes. Here are my predictions for this week's games in the Big Sky.
PSU at UI---The Vikings suffered a big home defeat last week and now face the high-flying Vandals who are coming off a big road win. It does seem like the only thing that can slow the Vandals now is themselves, so they better not look past this...UI 38, PSU 20.
NAU at ISU---The Lumberjacks have been floundering since their big win against Sam Houston early in the season. On paper, they should get this game over the Bengals who finally got their first win last week. But it is at the Bengals' den where strange things happen...ISU 35, NAU 31.
WSU at MSU---One of the big games this weekend in conference. The Wildcats have had a strong offense to go with a stingy defense. The Bobcats also has had a strong offense with a tight defense. Winning formula for both so who gets the win here?...WSU 20, MSU 14.
UCD at UNC---The Aggies seem to be the team that people have forgotten about, yet they are still playing strong. They need this win against a game Bears team that will be willing to spring an upset at their field, if the Aggies try to look past them...UCD 28, UNC 21.
EWU at CP---The Eagles were expecting great things, but a lackluster defense has kept them from the top. They should get this game against the Mustangs and their former coach, but the coach needs a good win and it is at the Mustang's field...CP 38, EWU 35.
UM at SAC---The Grizzlies were storming along with no care in the world, and then after last week, their fine season may be in jeopardy. They go into the Hornet's nest needing a win, something the Hornets haven't been giving out this season...SAC 38, UM 28.

Re: Big Sky Predictions 10-22
EWU 45-35 Cal Poly — Baldwin Bowl 2: Electric Boogaloo
Montalol 20-31 Sac State — The latter half of this season may test how out-of-control an eGriz wildfire can get
Portland St. 17-37 Idaho — Can the Vandals handle their return to relevance?
NAU 24-27 Idaho St. — How many losses will it take for NAU to buy out the last year of Chris Ball's contract?
Weber 21-20 Montana St. — Now all the good teams are entering their gauntlets.
Davis 35-20 NoCo — The Aggies were 1-4, but they should be 5-4 going into an eventual showdown in Moscow

Re: Big Sky Predictions 10-22
“all the good teams…” Slow down there turbo. I don’t like the way that was phrased. Let’s not forget who still controls this conference, and who’s playing the toughest schedule in the country. The Gizz already got that azz beat by Idaho, now they’ve gotta walk through last year’s undefeated Big Sky Champion, 6-0 Sac State! (in Sacramento). Weber State in Ogden, the conference’s reigning National Champion Eastern Washington, and the 6-1 MSU Bobcats… in Bozeman! Even the brain-dead, squirrel-eatin’ morons in Missoula know that’s no easy task.Mvemjsunpx wrote: ↑Wed Oct 19, 2022 11:41 pm EWU 45-35 Cal Poly — Baldwin Bowl 2: Electric Boogaloo

Btw, how funny would it be if Montana played three straight OOC cupcakes, and still missed the playoffs!?

Re: Big Sky Predictions 10-22
The playbook of Sacramento State seems extremely basic and limited, but they’ve got some big guys that seem hard to stop even when you know what they’re going to do. I’ll take Sacramento State at home by 10 points.
Eastern almost had Montana State in Cheney, so I’ll take Undefeated Weber State on the road by 7/10 points.
I know nothing about Cal Poly, but their record, so I’ll take EWU big! If Gunner can get his game together and eliminate turnovers Eastern should be ok.

We've had no reason to open it up. We certainly didn't need to last week on the maxipad.BlackFalkin wrote: ↑Fri Oct 21, 2022 8:17 am The playbook of Sacramento State seems extremely basic and limited, but they’ve got some big guys that seem hard to stop even when you know what they’re going to do. Thank goodness Sling TV and ESPN made up. Signed up for a month of Sling Orange for $35 to watch the game and any others on ESPN for a month.
In regards to my prediction, I think Sac wins. Montana just doesn't seem to have much originality in offensive scheming. That and I think Sac knows how to beat Montana's high pressure 3-3-5 defense.

I think the Idahoes exposed the Griz D. Spread it out and dink and donk your way down the field...which is exactly what the Hornet offense does. However if the Griz blitzing can get to the QB enough I think this can be an interesting game.SeattleGriz wrote: ↑Fri Oct 21, 2022 8:57 pm Thank goodness Sling TV and ESPN made up. Re: Big Sky Predictions 10-22
If you have a QB that gets rid of the ball quickly to the middle of the field, the Griz D has always had trouble stopping that. Sac showed last year, they have that type of QB.SDHornet wrote: ↑Fri Oct 21, 2022 8:59 pmI think the Idahoes exposed the Griz D. Re: Big Sky Predictions 10-22
The Griz have had some trouble (especially the last 2 games) getting pressure without all-out blitzes. Bringing 1 or 2 extra people hasn't been real effective.SDHornet wrote: ↑Fri Oct 21, 2022 8:59 pmI think the Idahoes exposed the Griz D. That Linfield stat is amazing, regardless of the level. Though I would have thought that Mount Union or WI-Whitewater would have been better than that....

Wow what a game in Sac. Hornets pull it out in OT, 31-24.

3-3 this week, puts me at 50-12 for the year.JALMOND wrote: ↑Wed Oct 19, 2022 10:22 pm After the results from last week, there are some interesting games on tap for this weekend.
