Big Sky Predictions - 2024

Post by Mvemjsunpx »

  • 1. Montana _______________7-1____11-1_____ Can the modern Griz deal with sky-high expectations?
    1. Montana State__________7-1____11-1_____ The Bobcats return nearly every rusher from a team that averaged an insane 7.3 yards-per-carry last year
    1. UC Davis ______________7-1____10-2_____ The Aggies are a strong contender… as long as Lan Larison stays healthy
    4. Idaho___________________6-2_____8-4_____ Idaho lost pretty much everything at the offensive "skill" positions
    4. Sacramento State ______6-2_____8-4_____ Sac lost pretty much everything on defense
    6. Weber State____________5-3_____7-5_____ The QB switch last year helped immensely, but it's unclear how much help Richie Munoz will have around him
    7. Eastern Washington____3-5_____6-6_____ BREAKING: Eastern Washington will have a good offense and a bad defense :o
    8. Portland State__________2-6_____2-10____ PSU sends Bruce Barnum off into the sunset with a schedule that will kick him in the nuts nearly every week :?
    9. Northern Colorado_____2-6_____2-10____ If Ed Lamb can't make the Bears decent, can anyone?
10.Cal Poly _______________2-6_____4-7_____ Paul Wulff has a massive amount of work to do, too, but at least his team has a favorable schedule this year
11.Northern Arizona ______1-7_____3-9_____ Chris Ball's massive influx of transfers didn't save his job, and now a lot of them are gone
12.Idaho State ____________0-8_____1-11____ The Bengals should be improved on paper, but they don't get to play any of the other low-tier Big Sky teams at home :ohno:

The first-and-fourth-place ties would come down to computer rankings, so I didn't break them.
The top-three teams would likely get seeds in this situation, while Idaho & Sac would be playing Thanksgiving weekend.
Two FBS wins predicted: MSU over New Mexico and EWU over Nevada.

Very solid assessment. I’ll quibble with ISU. I think they get 2-3 conference wins.

Viks could end up being the best 2-10 team in the country.

Thanks! :thumb:

Idaho State certainly could get a few more wins. Their best chances (aside from WOU) appear to be their first two games of October (@ CP, vs. PSU)

That could very well be true. I actually thought PSU was about even with EWU on paper, but—for once—it's not Eastern playing the suicidal schedule.

Sac will finish in front of Idalol and the Manure Pile. I say we win the title, but an argument could be made for the Griz. I have a feeling the Kitties will slip a bit this year, but that's not going to stop them from making the playoffs.

Montana is obviously winning the conference. Our QB is proven and there are no questions whatsoever. :coffee:

I do think we get 3 wins this year. I think we will "surprise" someone along the way. But, we could be so demoralized by the end of the season that we lose the UNC game.

Montana will not win the BSC they have no proven QB and they lost too much on defense

This could certainly be true, though I'm not sure they lost "too much" on D. Gubner will be nearly impossible to replace, but the defense as a whole should still be pretty good.

The Griz O is very deep everywhere else, so whoever gets the nod at QB should have the advantage of a strong support system.

I was so grateful last season when a pretty good CAA named Albany got to play a Big Sky team not named Montana or Montana State

Montana State could start the season 4-0 with their soft non-conference schedule, congrats!

I have no clue how Eastern Washington’s 2024 season will play out, but this might be Aaron Best’s final season from what I’ve heard. He might need 7+ wins to put “people” at ease, but I’m out of the know. I like Best so hopefully he comes through in 2024, but if he doesn’t his downfall was his inability to recruit top talent. It seems like there was no plan whatsoever after EBIII left. :ohno:

I think Idaho State wins two of their first four, and two in Big Sky play. 4-8

Just because everyone on here is delusional and I want to join the club ISU 12-0 beats OSU to open the season and goes undefeated to win the conference. In all reality ISU has made major updates to the roster and facilities. I would not be surprised if ISU goes 6-6 maybe 7-5.
BEAT WEBER!!!

I agree. Justice Jackson was our best rb last year but split time and was dinged up. He’s quick and elusive but big enough to handle sone carries.
