Heck, full time (40 hrs a week) at $15 an hr is over 30k without tips..kalm wrote:There are a few. At $15/hour plus tips they're making over $30K/year. That's enough to afford rent and upgrade the long board.Ibanez wrote: Are there that many 30ish year old barista's?

So there’s a Gen X and Gen Z, what happened to Gen Y? Is Gen Y the millenials?Ibanez wrote:GannonFan wrote:
Nonsense. We'll skip over that generation and wait until the generation that are the offspring of the Millinneals (assuming Millenneals take on parenthood - depends on how big the parent's basement really is) - now there's a generation that has the deck stacked against them.I read an article stating (obviously) how Baby-Boomers are responsible for the millennials and that Gen X is responsible for Gen Z.
So...is that why?

SuperHornet and Expandos are Gen Y. It’s a chromosomal rather chronistic designation. It has a higher prevalence in California and Louisiana.BDKJMU wrote:So there’s a Gen X and Gen Z, what happened to Gen Y? I think we're talking about good coffee shops here.93henfan wrote:You all tip at Starbucks? The $6 for hot water isn’t enough?

How about where it’s the only coffee shop (i.e. huge swaths of DC and NYC)?kalm wrote:I think we're talking about good coffee shops here.93henfan wrote:You all tip at Starbucks? The $6 for hot water isn’t enough?

Paying more than $2 for a cup of coffee (and I’m talking regular coffee up to 20 oz, not all that latte crap a chino stuff) is absurd..

Re: SCOTUS: Ban On
For an establishment place buying coffee in bulk MAYBE 50 cents worth of ground coffee per gallon of coffee brewed. For a Sheetz/Royal Farms/Wawa/Dunkin etc, with a 20 oz disposable cup and the average creamer/sugar, etc used per customer it might cost the store around 15-20 cents. So an at least 1000% profit margin is good enough..kalm wrote:Would you like cream and sugar?BDKJMU wrote:Paying more than $2 for a cup of coffee (and I’m talking regular coffee up to 20 oz, not all that latte crap a chino stuff) is absurd..

The margin is Ok but the avg. sale isn't that much.BDKJMU wrote:For an establishment place buying coffee in bulk MAYBE 50 cents worth of ground coffee per gallon of coffee brewed.
