Oh I don't know...
Private golf courses effectively receive a public subsidy
In Los Angeles county (for example) $89.8 million in public subsidies
without granting the public access to the land

That's seems like a type of reparations for rich folks that don't want poor folks around

Got any details on that claim...and any other examples other than LA?

Call me skeptical...
Really... of course you don't know about it
it's only been going on for 40 years and Fox News won't cover it

In 1978, they shepherded another piece of legislation—Proposition 13—into law that froze property taxes at a rate of 1% of their 1975 value (already artificially low for golf courses)

Republican Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Arizona) called the easement a “tax racket” in a report he released on 5 April 2017. His report included an explanation of how the deduction worked:

To receive the tax break, a land deed is amended to include a “conservation easement” that is binding on “current and future owners of the easement and the underlying property.” The easement is then “donated” to a government agency or a nonprofit land trust.

The property owner hand-picks the organization to which the easement will be donated and works out the terms for future uses of the property. The trusts rather than the federal government are then expected to enforce the
arrangements. Employees and board members of trusts have even donated easements to their own nonprofits while “hundreds—perhaps thousands—of easements have been violated or altered at the request of landowners.”

I’m sure it varies from state to state and county to county but I know from personal experience here there are breaks on urban open space and Ag properties. You can make a case for why but the beneficiaries ain’t poor folks. And golf is but one example. There are utilities discounts, M&O tax breaks etc under the justification of “economic development”.

The bigger premise is the poor aren’t the only ones milking the system or selfish. To defend the built-in advantages and greed of the wealthy taking advantage of government is intellectually lazy and/or disingenuous.

Everybody wants their’s

Why do we just assume the wealth gap between whites and blacks exists because of slavery?

You've got wealth gaps between whites and blacks, Hispanics, Asians, and Ashkenazi jews. How can you possibly know the black-white gap is due to slavery, especially with decades of social programs and affirmative action?
It's not simply an issue of slavery. Centuries of systemic racism put black families behind in terms of the inter-generational transfer of wealth. Racist banking/housing/land laws and the lack of work opportunities are examples of how black families were never given the chance to close the gap. They also had to contend with intimidation and violence (like the destruction of the wealthiest black neighborhood in America).

And that lack of inter-generational-wealth creates a domino effect: live in poorer neighborhoods, worse educational opportunities, worse job-prospects, etc.

Slavery began the wealth gap, but everything afterwards has been more instrumental in its creation.
How does any of this make poor whites different from poor blacks? Is the poor white today somehow better off because none of his 16 great-great grandparents were slaves instead of 5?
