Her platform positions on Wikipedia look decent - but is she a libertarian wacko? I do like that she's a woman, I can go with the "I'm with Her" voting tagline like I did when I voted for Jill Stein last time. Especially with these two geriatric, misogynists running on the GOP and Dem tickets.
You assume that all Libertarians are wackos, but you voted for Jill Stein last time!

The answer is no. My fellow DE LP convention delegates and I interviewed her via Zoom, and she was very impressive. Much less goofy than Gary Johnson, to name one.

:thumb: It's time for South Carolina to take control of this country.

There are a few big name Charleston pages that I follow on Facebook and i've seen an uptick in the usual MAGA champions abandoning Trump and supporting Jo.

I don't think so at all.

Heck, (may I use that line?) she's in favor a demilitarizing the police. That oughta get a few leftists to look at her.

For a protest vote (aka Jill Stein), I don't get too worked up on their viability.

As for Libertarians, you have to admit, they have an image problem. There are too many wacky ones that get on tv or the web and they don't really sell the Libertarian platform very well. They should think about a good marketing firm to vet what they put out and who they let speak.

And good, is she going to be on the PA ballot in November? I can never vote for Trump and I wouldn't have voted for Biden 10 years ago when he was still coherent, I'm certainly resistant to voting for him in his diminished state. I'm still waiting on the VP pick and whether Biden will step aside or medically not be able to continue.

If I'm going to vote Libertarian I somehow sense trademarking my use of the word "heck" would run contrary to my new political advocacy. So sure, heck, go ahead and use heck as often as you'd like.

They certainly have a PR problem. The political industry is dominated by the Reps and Dems but there must be a way for the Libertarians to break out. They can be a big tent party...just the keep the clowns off the stage.

I believe there is a core that is unwilling to compromise on the key points so it's hard for them to be a big tent party. I'm a small L libertarian because among other things, I believe that education is important and should be considered infrastructure to be invested in (just not with overarching federal oversight). I'm not sure that perspective fits the platform.

There also appears to be a faction that embraces being a goofy.

MAJORITY WANTS MISSISSIPPI STATE FLAG REPLACED FOR 1ST TIME IN HISTORY, POLLS SHOW

Pressure is mounting on the Legislature to change the state flag in the wake of George Floyd’s death, with a new poll showing a majority of Mississippians for the first time favor ridding the state of its official flag featuring a Confederate battle emblem.

The Mississippi Economic Council has released poll data showing that 55% of Mississippians favor changing the flag, compared to 54% who were not in favor of a change just 18 months ago.

Then Mississippi should tell the MAJORITY to fuck off and cater to the minority like the left wing tries to do to the entire USA.

The LP has several ideological groups — I hesitate to call them factions — that differ in their approach to the scope of government and concepts of liberty. There is a lively debate about the abortion plank in the proposed LP platform, and there is a fairly strong anarchist strain. Spike Cohen, who is JoJo’s VP candidate, tends to think that way. (Cohen was not her first choice, but the delegates voted him in.) And, yes, there are some crazies. But it’s always been that way, to some extent, and most of the intellectual ferment in the party is healthy. I spent over half an hour commenting on party platform proposals. Getting Jorgensen on the debate stage would be huge, because she would outshine both TweedleDonk and TweedleConk, but that probably won’t happen. And the idea of hiring a marketing firm to burnish the LP’s image is not practical. God knows the Duopoly could use even more help with that.

They don't have the same free speech protections as we do on that side of the pond. There have been people fined (and I think even jailed) for wrongthink.
Yeah but some white guys wrote our Constitution so we should tear it up and not have things like free speech protections.

Is that even a news source? Where do people find these weird sites? The echo chambers are really insulated these days. :ohno:

And regardless, Biden is already Teflon for these types of things - he sent his kids to a white private school to avoid busing into the inner city with Black kids in the '70's, he plagiarized political speeches in the late '80's in a previous run for President, he authored the crime bill and labeled people super predators that led to a generation of Black youths being committed to the criminal justice system, and he sexually harassed women. And he's clearly suffering a mental decline likely due to his advanced age. And he'll likely be elected President in November because the current office holder is at least equally repugnant. Political institutions have and are failing us. :ohno:

The alternative is to sit on the fringe and ignore trying to convince more voters to join their ranks. They'll be real lonely, but it will be a righteous loneliness so I'm sure that will make it better.

Just stop. You have no idea how hard the LP is working to attract new members, especially younger ones. But that doesn’t fit your narrative.

It's possible, as he had ancestors in this country back to the early 1700's. Like you said, I don't think the sins of his ancestors will affect voters today. We are talking 3rd Greats and back.

Yeah, none of that stuff that Joe did in the 70s, 80s, 90s matters. But presentism does, and on the campaign trail, press conferences, debates this fall when you can't string 2 sentences together with getting totally bewildered & confused, and when the cognitive decline is getting worse (IMHOP) is why I'm not worried about Biden winning.
