Surely you don't mean to imply that an elected official would listen to moneyed interests before the common citizen......come on, TTBF, you're gonna sour me on elected officials.....
And Cap'n told me that I was too cynical. :P
Being wrong about a topic is called post partisanism - kalm

MAQA - putting the Q into qrazy qanon qult qonspiracy theories since 2015.

It will probably be difficult for MAQA yahoos to overcome the Qult programming but they should give being rational & reasonable a try.

Thank you for your attention to this matter - UNI88

heh... you guys amuse me. you run for office with no money... see how far you get. by the way... i think that's a good thing. if you can't get people to support you monetarily... my guess is your ideas need some work to become viable.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not naive enough to believe you can support this political system without fundraising....just cynical enough to realize most politicians, while initially well-intentioned, are more concerned with maintaining or increasing their position of influence and power (through continued fundraising) than they are concerned about their constituents or country/state/city/etc.....

Being a politician is like any other job. The more years you put into the more MONEY you want to make. Whether the money is raised ethically or not. They are just like a car salesman. Customer service is near the bottom of the priority list. Just stating facts here. :)

Agree, but at least the car salesman has the integrity to not claim his occupation is about giving back to the public....well, except on the major holidays....$5000 cash back or 0% financing to qualified buyers.....

this implies that fundraising and constituent service are mutually exclusive... which they aren't at all. or that somehow contributions imply that a vote was purchased... which isn't really how it goes. it's more like this - the PAC's give money to incumbents who support their positions already. they fund and invest in challengers who oppose their positions. this works with "whales" too. the whales invest and defend.

but since PAC's are nothing more than like-minded people banding together to petition their government... i don't see a problem with it... in fact it's more effective than individuals going it alone.

That's true. However, Americans are not falling for it as much anymore. GM and Chrysler are closing dealerships across the country so that has to be a good sign.

The anti-social-conservatives are just as bad. The "progressive" religion must stand down as well.

Not sure how that could happen... UNLESS we actually reducd the size of the federal government by about 85% and revert to the original intent of the Constitution...

That constitution is a rag that ain't worth wipin' your ass with. I'll take most of the Bill of Rights and one or two other amendments and that's it. Fish wrap bullshit.

Just as bad as what..?
My point is organized religions tend to hi-jack control structures
probably ultimately as a means of protecting themselves from organized free thinking individuals

This is not an attack on God... I'm a big fan of God

But the constitution could not be more clear on this subject
And with The Constitution - just like the Bible - you either believe in it or you do not believe in it - picking and choosing bits and pieces to suit your disposition is a bit too convenient and alarming in it's results

in fact nothing is more disconcerting for me than when I debate an individual who adheres completely to one section of the bible and dismisses another in an attempt to support his point... it's sad and disturbing to watch folks back peddle and side slip around the B.S. portions of that book

The Constitution contains no portions that require side stepping or backing away from..!!!
- Big 10 Football - So boring Wisconsin is our most exciting team...
- Big 10 Football - Where 117th ranked Purdue is dominant...
- Big 10 Football - Where team speed and passing offense are not required...

Care to comment Joltin Joe?
"Sarah Palin absolutely blew AWAY the audience tonight. If there was any doubt as to whether she was savvy enough, tough enough or smart enough to carry the mantle of Vice President, she put those fears to rest tonight. She took on Barack Obama DIRECTLY on every issue and exposed... She did it with warmth and humor, and came across as the every-person....it's becoming mroe and more clear that she was a genius pick for McCain."
