Well apparently WHO did in that tweet I posted...Chizzang wrote: ↑Thu Mar 26, 2020 7:27 pmI have no idea about their overlords or what their motivations are...
What I do know is - No science or Health organization would ever say a "Virus wasn't contagious"
They might say all kinds of inaccurate sh!t
But they would NOT classify I virus as an NCD
NOTE:
nobody ever said CVD-19 wasn't contagious
...back in mid January well after this thing was running rampant in Wuhan.
So I see 2 options: 1) China lied to WHO and WHO ran with it. Why would WHO trust China is clearly another transient question here. 2) WHO was running interference for China on this to make this not look as bad (best case scenario) or purposely misleading folks so this thing could go global (worst case scenario).

The WHO did say in mid January (Jan 14th) that it couldn't be passed from human to human. Obviously not their most shining moment.Chizzang wrote: ↑Thu Mar 26, 2020 7:51 pmI don't disagree with that assessment - China is a nightmare on the world stage and no doubt manipulated the WHOCID1990 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 26, 2020 7:36 pm
We are bickering over the minutiae of WHO’s initial response to the WuFlu
And it’s true - I don’t think they said the virus wasn’t contagious (though they may have downplayed its transmissibility)
But the bigger takeaway here, yet again, is the sway China holds over some world organizations like WHO. It is obvious that WHO wanted access and was willing to play Xi’s game to keep it
And so China was able to shape the narrative over what is actually hard science, and was able to use a highly respected global health organization as a mouthpiece
Wake up people -
But I am going to be a stickler on global contagion and just making sh!t up about who said what
China manipulating the WHO is a concern
The WHO announcing that a Virus is an NCD is grounds for disbanding the organization
By definition a virus is a contagion
There's no doubt that there are plenty of people and organizations that didn't do well in the early stages of this virus and that has led to the worldwide impact being as bad as it is. The fact that this could even happen due to the wet markets is one big issue, and China's covering up and managing the press of this for the first two months wasn't helpful either. And obviously each country this went to, including the US and Trump and many governors, didn't perform well in at least getting prepared for this before it became as much of a problem as it as. Apparently we need more practice in global epidemics.

Re: Donald Trump gaffe and verbal bungles watch
So what we have is a distinctive argument that has devolved into semantics
WHO did say that studies were showing that there was no human to human transmissibility - and they were quoting Chinese health officials (who are Party members, BTW)
Saying the virus is not contagious is a layman’s misinterpretation of that. So not accurate
But WHO was willing to parrot that. The WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION compromised its reputation by repeating Chinese lies and the meltdown is over “no human to human transmission” versus “not contagious”?
Maybe we should get Trump to point this out so some of you will take notice that what WHO actually did was the front and center issue here. Not what some right wing yahoo with an internet connection got wrong about it

"a contagious infection"
If a virus is not readily transmissible from pigs, birds, bats, pangolins or CUNTS to humans, then it is not considered to be contagious between those media

So then the assumption is a ton of bats were flying around Wuhan infecting people one by one? Because that's really the only other thing that could have been happening since China/WHO was claiming no human to human transmission.

No, that isn’t correctSDHornet wrote:So then the assumption is a ton of bats were flying around Wuhan infecting people one by one? Because that's really the only other thing that could have been happening since China/WHO was claiming no human to human transmission.![]()
There are shit tons of viruses out there that have certain animals as their natural hosts... and those viruses do not readily jump from those animals to humans due to infrequent contact - for example, bats. So in that respect, those viruses are not “contagious” since we do not readily interact with bats, even though technically speaking their viruses ARE quite contagious.
But occasionally those viruses will jump from their host to an intermediary that does come into contact with humans, such as domestic food animals such as pigs, birds, or in this case, pangolins (thanks China)
At that point the virus can more easily make the jump and then we are off to the races
So, WHO saying there was no human to human transmission was obviously due to either A) taking China’s word for it, or B) being in China’s pocket (which leads us back to A)
But my point is that there is a definite distinction between being “contagious” (which ALL viruses are) or being capable of human to human transfer (which is true of many viruses)

Re: Donald Trump gaffe and verbal bungles watch
The problem with this statement is that we are referring specifically to the Chinese Flu, and not an arbitrary list of viruses that could jump from animal to human. Since we are dealing with CCP/WHO propaganda with them trying to save face rather than owning up and admitting this thing is contagious among humans and allowing leaders around the world to begin preparing for a pandemic, the semantics matter and you know that.CID1990 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 28, 2020 8:34 pmNo, that isn’t correctSDHornet wrote: So then the assumption is a ton of bats were flying around Wuhan infecting people one by one?
