If one would take the entire known lithium and other battery "ores" in the world, we would not be able to produce enough vehicles for replacing the current number of vehicles in the UK (if we were doing a one to one replacement). This was from a study done back in 2018 or 2019.

Another battery technology that does not depend on rare earth metals will have to be found to make any kind of dent in providing electric machines/vehicles to the general public. Good news is there is quite of bit of work being done in this area (my bet is on some version of capacitors).
Yep. It’s not real complicated. But it is. And yet, All vehicles in CA will be electric in 8 years. Go figure… And even if there WAS enough rare-earth minerals to replace all the cars, the electric grid and infrastructure can’t support the cars that are out there NOW.
California banned all small engines (new sale) by 2024.

And it is not but some legislators like believing that a wave of their magic pen will make it all work out somehow. Physics can be re-written with the passage of a bill.

After 7 cent increase nationwide Thur, 9 cents yesterday.
Image
This doesn’t make sense if prices are based on supply and demand, and we’ve yet to see major supply disruptions. Still buying Russian oil (see Shell), no oil sanctions yet And historically demand doesn’t suddenly increase late Feb/early March..that’s usually not till May..So if supply (at the moment) and demand is roughly the same, why the massive price spike at the pump?

I agree but it's going to make it difficult to convince a country to give up it's nukes in the future

Not if you believe the reports coming out regarding the condition of Russian forces and equipment. Ukraine still has a shot to keep their government in power. Loads of equipment coming in (Canada just sent a bunch), a reported Ukrainian counter offensive in Kharkiv to push the Russians back to the border. Social Democrats in Finland agreeing to request for NATO membership (making it a majority in their parliament now). Warsaw has ended cooperation agreements with the cities of Moscow, St Petersburg, Smoleńsk, Nizhny Novgorod and Grozny.

The whole thing is terrible and not all news is believable but there’s too much signal to ignore the deep shit Russia is in.
I'm sure there's some truth to them, but with NATO/US not sending troops in, this now becomes a simple war of attrition and that isn't something that favors Ukraine. The "leathal aid" Ukraine is getting is nice, but it'll probably play a bigger role when this turns into non-conventional guerilla war type tactics which is what we'll probably see when Russia moves into the urban areas.

One final grift from Ukraine before Putin kicks out all the NGO's that launder money over there. Also a sign that HIldabeast will run in '24.

Biden has said that we're not sending anyone over there...at least not in the Ukraine or the Soviet Union itself. But now the Soviets have kidnapped Brittney Griner. Will Biden about-face on that now that the General Secretary is likely to use her as a hostage? Send in Seal Team SIX? Drop some bombs on Red Square?

Can anyone really watch what's happened with this crisis and not say we could do everything we've been doing for half of what we spend on defense? Do we really need all this when our best weapons are mutually assured destruction, sanctions, and giving stinger missiles to foreign troops?

No need for the West to establish a no-fly zone over the Ukraine. A woman killed a Soviet drone in Kiev with with a jar of cucumbers!
