The interesting question for me being that since his aggression didn't turn off too many independents in 2016, can similar abrasive tactics not be a detriment to Democrats in 2018 or do they need to remain the party of pussy/nice guys in order to sway enough indies?
And yes, extrapolating the actions of a restaurant owner to whether people will vote for congressional Democratic candidates is indeed a bit irrelevant. But it can still lead to a fun discussion until you piss on it.

The irony is, that mob-mentality and the #resistance is by far the closest thing to actual fascism we have in this country today, far more than anything Trump has attempted to do so far. Trump is a buffoon, and he's led around by his ego and vanity. But in the end he's just an empty suit. He's no ideologue and he's certainly not invested enough to be a fascist. But the purity of thought, absolute opposition to divergent politics, and strict demand to toe the party line, all the while done in the spirit of fanaticism, things the left has been engaged in since the apocalypse of Trump's election, are all facets of fascism. Irony indeed.AZGrizFan wrote:More than just “low class”...it’s a mob mentality that’s taken over the donks...and it’s **** dangerous.Ibanez wrote:

So I wonder what happens if SH-S quits and then no one wants the job because they don't want to be harassed and threatened and blackballed by unhinged lunatic mobs and then Donald Trump just says "phuk it, the fake news media doesn't need to be able to talk to anyone from the administration at the white house"?
Will we get a lot of complaints about how Trumpitler McCheneyburton is waging war on the press and breaking the long-standing tradition of transparency at the white house?

There’s some truth here. A friend posted a meme on FB that said “ It’s ok to lose friends who approve of keeping children captive in order to negotiate the building of large walls.” I asked if I should lose friends who supported an administration that approved the kidnapping and murder of Honduran journalists, and peace and environmental activists to put oligarchs back in power?GannonFan wrote:The irony is, that mob-mentality and the #resistance is by far the closest thing to actual fascism we have in this country today, far more than anything Trump has attempted to do so far. I’d quibble with you though that one side is worse. Fascism transcends ideology especially when it comes to merger corporations and state. Trump, Clinton, and Obama are all very good at that. Trumps attacks on the media are also somewhat suspicious.

Welcome to human society, where groups of people get together and find plans to enrich their lives, better the future, and find ways to help those less fortunate than themselves. There are certainly disagreements on how to approach these societal missions.
But if you're going to stand in the way of progress, or worse, try to regress it in the name of "individualism" or however you want to justify it, then society reserves the right to kick you out of the way.

Now that we’ve reached the point where it is being normalized to confront people in public while they’re having dinner, getting gas - whatever - it is going to turn violent. That’s the only place left to go. A BernieBro already tried to assassinate a US Congressman, Maxine Waters is calling for confrontation.. it’s only a matter of time

The baker didn’t refuse service. He was willing to bake/sell them a cake. He wasnt willing to specialize it for the gay wedding due to his religious beliefs, which violated a state govt law.
The restaurant owner wasn’t violating a govt law by refusing service. Imagine there were specialized donk amd conk meals. The closet equivalent you could get to would been if the restuarant did specialized donk meals for liberal customers and refused to do a specialized conk meal for Huckabee’s party, but was willing to serve them a non specialized/regular meal. And that still doesn’t have the religion aspect.
FWIW IMHOP a restaraunt should be able to refuse service to anyone they want to.

It is FAR more than that. The thing at the restaurant in VA is just the tip of the iceberg. Harrassment of Trump admin & ICE employees at resaurants, their homes, in public, and calls for more of the same from the likes of Maxine Waters. I would have made a great conservative back in the day when conservatism actually meant something. Fiscal responsibility and caring about working people, the environment, and civil rights? Sounds awesome.
Now it's all about "Fuck you, I got mine." Disgusting and certainly not what America is about.
Re: The Official "Making America Great Again" Thread
You're splitting hairs. It's their prerogative (and if a business wants to deal with the backlash, then so be it) but it's still denying something to a customer based on that customers beliefs being contrary to yours.BDKJMU wrote:Like I said before, the 2 situations aren’t even apples to oranges, there’s zero comparison.Ibanez wrote: That's a weak argument. It's still a denial of service based on a person's beliefs or association with a group.
As I said, I have no issue with either business denying service (I think it's petty and stupid.)
"No shirt, No shoes, No Gays/Muslins/Republicans/Democrats, No service."
Turns out I might be a little gay. 89Hen 11/7/17

I’ll wear my libertarian hat and reply...BDKJMU wrote:It is FAR more than that. The thing at the restaurant in VA is just the tip of the iceberg. Harrassment of Trump admin & ICE employees at resaurants, their homes, in public, and calls for more of the same from the likes of Maxine Waters. The comparing of Trump to Hitler, comparing the detaining at the border to Nazi concentration camps, trying to shut down ICE facilities through protest, calling all Trump voters Nazis, etc, etc, kalm wrote:
No, but Trump IS trying to hold on to congress. (Ha! See what I did there?)
I was merely commenting on how the Trump phenomenon has challenged the old paradigm of political decorum. I'm not even sure that's a bad thing.
BTW, if we're discussing election ramifications rather than comparing policy, it can't really be "but Trump". It would be nice if you could follow along a little better.
Ain’t freedom of association, speech, and religion a bitch?
