Nope... I would argue it's much harder for a Republican to win
for a Democrat to win they just need California / Illinois / New York / Pennsylvania / Michigan and Ohio

And, Romney won independents in Ohio by 10 points.

...but, lost the state by 2 points.

Republicans have to do more work among the middle.

But will that "loss" be anything more than a one-off? I know a bunch of local Republicans who say they will vote for Johnson this time around, and some have switched their registrations from "R" to Independent in protest of Trump and the GOP's inept handling of the primaries, but I don't know of any who have changed their registrations to Libertarian. There's an active debate going on in small-l libertarian circles about whether the Libertarian Party will be a "permanent splinter party" that never achieves a critical mass of registered voters.

Will establishment conks continue to be as inept as recently shown? If so (and I expect conks to not change), I would think this would be more than just a "one-off".

I just don't see a bunch of "establishment conks" rushing to the Libertarian Party, which has an image of flakes who debate the merits of Ayn Rand versus F.A. Hayek and strip naked at the convention podium.

Agree, it's the establishment conks dumpster fire to deal with, any sane person should be looking for an exit...yes I just said a sane move is considering going LP with its naked dude and all. That's how bad and laughable the conk dumpster fire is right now.

If that's the worst you got I'd be proud to call myself a libertarian vs a conk or donk.

I can say this: I didn't vote R in 2012, won't vote R in 2016 and can't think of a candidate that'd make me vote R in 2020, unless the (R)'s move AWAY from forcing social issues to the forefront and get rid of the religious right--and I fully do NOT expect that to happen in my lifetime....but, time will tell, I guess.

Republicans are toast.

Republicans lost their way when they fully embraced the religious right. They might as well try to get the hard line Muslins to join the Rs and start trumpeting the values of sharia law.

People DO NOT want government in their bedrooms.

JSO and his ilk are hoping the Republicans can rebound after Trump loses. That is a pipe dream. As long as the elephants tie themselves to the religious right, their support will continue to erode over time.

Mitt Romney was relatively moderate on social issues and it pissed the social conservatives off.

Far more moderate than Bush or Reagan (both of whom I assume you voted for twice). :coffee:

This. Obama/hilldog implemented a foreign policy akin to W's on steroids. Remember the leftist outrage over Iraq? Libya is Obama/hilldogs Iraq, both actions resulted in a failed ME state. There was a military coup that ousted an elected president in Egypt to essentially get them back to where they were under W. We have boots on the ground in Yemen serving as "advisers" to the Saudi troops there. Oh and we're still in Afghanistan even after getting OBL (Obama's greatest foreign policy accomplishment IMO).

Then there's Syria. That "sad" picture going around of that little boy pulled from the rubble? Yeah that kinda **** happens when you draw a red line and don't enforce it. That's all on Obama, and hilldog gets bonus points for selling buko amounts of guns to the Saudi's that no doubt gets in the hands of these "moderate" rebels all over that region. Thanks Obama.

Then there's still Sudan to talk about. Another success story there.

Obama/hilldog have literally learned nothing from the failed W foreign policy and have continued where he left off...but yet it's somehow touted as great experience by leftists. :dunce:

I personally know more bernie folks who easily jumped on the hilldog train rather than either 1) sided with Stien/Johnson or 2) are deciding not to vote. Sure you can say Trump is the reason for that but I'm willing to put my house on the line that there would have been little to no difference had the "best" of any of the other conk candidates made it. Maybe Rubio (Brown card) would have brought on some of those folks simply for the "getting one of our own" in the WH factor...maybe.

Yeah, too bad Team Brown doesn't respect the U.S.ofA. as a nation.

I support immigration...but not a flood of any immigrant that feel like crossing the border on their own terms.

If you start off invading this country, than shows no respect towards the people who are here.

But, give people free stuff and don't hold them accountable for their actions...a great way to build a voter base for socialism. And a great way to divide a nation.

Meh. What did you expect when your candidate opens up the immigration debate by calling Team Brown rapists and murderers? A common sense approach to immigration would have gotten plenty of Team Brown folks on board, instead conks did nothing to address immigration reform and double down by delivering Trump.

Did Trump call all Mexicans and all immigrants rapists and murderers? I missed that.

If someone says that Ireland is sending us their worst people by shoving them across our boarder, and the people are coming in illegally, I don't get upset. I just don't. If Ireland had a drug war going on right across our border, there were a couple murders and rapes done by illegal immigrants, and someone points that out...I don't get upset.

I get that some people are sensitive, and take everything personally. That is a sad way to live. I thought Team Brown was better than that. I thought they could cut through the BS and think for themselves. Obviously, I was wrong.

He didn't, but this election cycle exemplifies that perception is reality and unfortunately that is all that matters in today's society. The other component to this was the right wing branch of the conk party eviscerating anyone even thinking of bringing forth a common sense pathway to citizenship for immigrants. conks lost the immigration debate long before Trump ill-fated comments.
