Funny, it's not in the top 5 in ANY of the links provided by Flaggy. You know which state IS routinely in the top 5?

Texas. :coffee: :coffee:
So where are we at?
We started at "the most successful state" and have backpedaled to "Its in the top 5 in every study and number one on several". I think the next step will be a change of the word "every".
This is likely a 10 step process. Be patient.

Holy shit, that's rich. Benefiting from FDR's policies? It's FDR's policies that have this country under a crippling debt load. And like the poster above said, he was the biggest oligarch in the past 100 years.
I'm not so sure about that. During FDRs administration we saw the formation of the SEC, FCIC, FDIC, FHA (ok, maybe not lately), TVA. We saw the Glass–Steagall Act and the repeal of Prohibition. The CCC and WPA got people working. Social Security isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Later generations have ruined Social Security, not FDR.

FDRs policies were right for the time. What was done after him can't really be his fault. Republicans expanded some of his programs (namely Ike).

He didn't create the concept of entitlements. They existed before him. He just implemented a limited state of welfare during an economically devastating period in our history. IIRC, most of the New Deal programs were either repealed, ruled unconstitutional, or just ended. Out of approx. 43 programs, about 14 or 15 remain. The few that remain that are commonly linked to the "welfare state", like Food Stamps and Social Security, have been abused by the left.

I don't know, I don't think FDR was bad simply because he was a Democrat.

Set up like a Ponzi scheme it is..

No, it was set up from the outset in flawed way- by allowing people in retirement to draw out more than they/their spouse/employer paid in...

I'd say. I can't wait to see what problem you have with the SEC or TVA or Glass-Steagal. Get to it, Thomas.

I figured you would be for G/S, since it's repeal is widely accredited to the Great Recession.

Just being widely accredited to the Great Recession doesn't make it so. Glass-Steagal wouldn't have covered the banks that did go under - Bear Stearns, Lehman, and wouldn't have impacted the issues at Merrill Lynch and AIG and Fannie and Freddie. I mean, it sounds all well and good to point to a piece of legislation as the cause of the downfall, but it doesn't make it true. No matter how many times Warren-parrots shout it out.

It was more than banks going under. The repeal of G/S allowed those mega banks to exist. To me, it kind matters.

It was more than banks going under.
But it wasn't about banks operating in both spheres of Wall Street and Main Street at the same time that brought it about, hence the red herring that is Glass-Steagal.
