As a Mets fan who still remembers 2007 and 2008, don't say that yet.

Still 6 games against each other though the rest of the Mets schedule is pretty favorable. 6 against Phils, 6 against Miami, 3 against Boston, 7 against the Braves, 4 against Cinci and 3 against the Yanks

Nats on the other hand have 6 against the Mets, 10 against Miami, 7 against Atlanta, 6 against Philly, 1 against Cinci, 3 against Baltimore, and 3 against St. Louis.

While the bad the NL East teams plus Cinci are roughly equivalent in what they have to play, St. Louis is better than NYY, and Baltimore is better than Boston so Nats should have a little tougher time but this Mets team has never had a playoff run and the last chance they had turned ugly when it looked like they were there.

Yeah, there were a few sports reporters around here that actuall saw this potentially coming. Most fans were just waiting for the whole team to be back from injury and they (we) all assumed the returning starters would gel and produce. :x Mets are also a LOT better than advertised.
Mets had the pitching coming in to the season though outside of Harvey and Wheeler (who got TJ surgery just before the season), a lot of people didn't know their names even though they were excellent pitchers. The question was always going to be the hitting which has finally come along in August thanks to a lot of things but especially the Cespedes trade and the Flores non-trade. Wright is now also back which should help. Even the pitchers are hitting now as they were 2 for 5 yesterday with a run scored including reliever Torres getting a single in his only at bat of the year in the 13th inning.

Mets have easiest schedule left, Nats second easiest.

If my 'get another ring', you meant 'get no-hit twice in 10 days', then sure, become a temporary Dodgers fan!

I hate to say it as he was my favorite player, but watching Utley play against the Giants last night - he's done. Not the same player - you know he has to know it inside. I hope he hangs em up in the offseason.

Why rush him back at this point? We can watch the rest of the Kiddie Korps for the rest of the season. :twocents:

Watch out, Phils, the Braves are going to overtake you for the worst record in baseball!

We are going to make this an NL East thread so how about a Cespedes for the rest of us. Mets sweep the Nats coming from behind in all 3 games. Up by 7 over the Nats for the Division title with 23 games to go.

Cespedes - In game 1 - 3 for 5 with 2 runs, 2 RBIs including a home run, Game 2 - 1 for 5 with a run and 3 RBIs, and Game 3 - 2 for 4 with a run and 2 RBIs and the game winning home run. Great trade by the Mets for him. Since acquiring him, he is batting .307, 13 HRs, 34 RBIs in 35 games. 25-11 record over that span (didn't play in 1 of those games) and only 53-50 before acquiring him.

No, they aren't. Not with pitchers like David "Hit Me" Buchanan on our staff. :ohno:

Phils called Buchanan up special just so we can tank against the Braves. Worked to perfection. Inside position now for the first pick in the draft, at this point, why bother winning?

:ohno: The only thing I don't understand is why I keep watching the Nats, night after night. Coming from behind... in the 7th or later. :(
