You are an idiot. She has every right to practice her belief. No one is stopping her from doing that. She has no right, especially as an elected official, to impose her beliefs as an agent of the government. She has no right to infringe on someone's rights. Remember, she was denying licenses for all couples, gay and straight.Jjoey52 wrote:The first amendment granting freedom of religion is now dead, killed by 5 rogue justices.
So, it's not dead. This hypocrite has been put in check.

So you have no problem with a government agent breaking the law under the guise of the 1st Amendment? That's in-American.JohnStOnge wrote:This is nothing new for me, BTW, I was writing editorials about the inordinate power allowed Federal Judges in the McNeese Contraband (school newspaper) roughly 35 years ago. Writing about how they were totally out of control, how they made no pretense of actually sticking to the Law and the Constitution, how they essentially constitute an oligarchy.
Amazing to me that people who ostensibly believe in the right of people to representative government and accountable government tolerate what the institution of the Judiciary has become and have tolerated it for a long time.
To me the situation is summed up by this famous Justice Charles Evans Hughes quote:
That is a totally intolerable situation. It is the tail wagging the dog. Bass akwards. The Constitution should determine what the Judges say rather than the Judges determining what the Constitution says. And that's not what we have.We are under a Constitution, but the Constitution is what the judges say it is.

Question for the legal eagles here. What does the ruling mean to NC's recently passed law that allows Clerks to deny issuing marriage licenses based on religious beliefs? They have to refrain from all marriages for at least 6 months as it stands.

A Muslim flight attendant has filed a religious discrimination lawsuit after being suspended from her job for refusing to serve alcohol to customers because of her religious beliefs.
Charee Stanley, a Michigan employee of ExpressJet who converted to Islam a month after being hired by the company, has enlisted the Council on American Islamic Relations to help her in her efforts, Detroit CBS-TV affiliate WWJ reported.
“We notified ExpressJet Airlines of its obligation under the law to reasonably accommodate Ms. Stanley’s religious beliefs,” her CAIR attorney, Lena Masri, said at a news conference Tuesday. “Instead, ExpressJet chose to violate Ms. Stanley’s constitutional rights, placed her on administrative leave for 12 months, after which her employment may be administratively terminated.”

Jesus is attributed to a half dozen direct comments on marriage and the union of marriage
Jesus:
"And I say to you, whoever divorces his wife, except for immorality, and marries another woman commits adultery,"
Jesus:
"What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate,"
On the other had:
If you were to read all four gospels thoroughly in search of Jesus’ teachings on homosexuality it would be a futile endeavor. Not only would you come to the end of the gospels without finding anything attributed to Jesus on the subject, you wouldn’t even find a single reference to the issue in any context.

I find it comical that these "Christians" will claim to follow Gods law (well, the ones they care about) but are 3x divorced and then will fail to uphold Gods law by failing to uphold an Oath that they have sworn to uphold. If you don't want to issue marriage licenses, b/c it conflicts with your faith, then get a new job. An elected official, failing to do her duty, has to be recalled/removed from office.∞∞∞ wrote:Back on the job from jail and she's gonna refuse to give out licenses (again).
