2015 Philadelphia Eagles Thread

Post by 93henfan »

Cody Parkey, I hope you've been saving some money. Bad preseason followed by missing the game winner from moderate distance tonight can't be good for the career longevity.

And Chip has to be absolutely kicking himself for not going for it. You could tell it pained him to send out the FG unit.

Maxwell is the real goat of the night though. Burnt toast all night against Julio Jones. Pathetic.

Oh well, I like going into Dallas week hungry. Kick some Cowboy ass.

O really got it's rhythm after halftime and the D, other than Maxwell, looked terrific.

Obviously I want the Cowboys to win the East but really I was more excited that the Falcons victory kept me in the lead for the week one pick 'em at work. Now if the 9er's win I get the pot. :thumb:

Boy last night sucked:

Chip didn't have them ready to go - was out game-planned badly in first half.

Too many penalties

Bradford looked real shaky in the first half, much better in the 2nd half

Run game non-existent most of the night - run/pass ratio was horrendous

Maxwell leading culprit of shaky secondary

Can't play half a game and expect to win, even against a team like the Falcons. Eagles weren't ready in the first half - receivers looked lost out there (Ertz turned the wrong way on one pass, Huff was blocking rather than running a route on the other, and Agholar was late turning for a ball on the other) and then later in the half Bradford started to look shaky. Turned it around in the second half and Bradford looked like he was getting the rust off.

The worry is that they couldn't run the ball between the tackles all night. That has to change as you can't run sweeps all the time.

I do think Chip erred going for the field goal at the end. Besides the fact that Parkey looked shaky all preseason, I don't like settling for a one point lead at that point. You have more than two minutes on the clock and you haven't shown that you can really stop them from moving the ball most of the night and their kicker looked automatic inside of 50 so you know they have a good shot to get the FG. The offense was rolling at that point so I say go for it so you can eat more clock and eventually go up by 5-6 points and make them score a TD with less than 2 minutes to go. I think he looked pained because I think he knew he was making the wrong call.

I'm not sure what the hell happened on that last possession. They didn't look like the same team from the previous four. A slow developing shallow out route to start it? WTF? :ohno:

It does make you wonder about Vegas lines. Eagles would have covered with a TD and the Falcons would have covered even with an Eagles field goal.

Yeah, the first play didn't work, but then the one that Matthews dropped in the middle of the field that resulted in the INT was going to be a first down catch and he was wide open. Just like the fullback dive in the Wing T and spread option offenses, you sometimes need to remind people of the whole package to make the other things work.

Well, the Falcons played half a game and won.

Don't be too down on Maxwell. When he's healthy, it's impossible to cover Julio 1 on 1 and makes a lot of DB's look bad.

Not when they couldn't stop them at all in the second half. That one 95 yard drive was ridiculous, they actually went 161 yards for the TD.

S.Bradford pass short middle to J.Matthews to PHI 9 for 6 yards
S.Bradford pass short left to R.Cooper to PHI 16 for 7 yards
D.Murray right end ran ob at PHI 35 for 19 yards
S.Bradford pass short left to J.Matthews to PHI 27 for 19 yards
S.Bradford pass short right to M.Austin to PHI 34 for 7 yards
D.Murray right end to PHI 36 for 2 yards
S.Bradford pass short middle to Z.Ertz to PHI 48 for 12 yards
S.Bradford pass short right to R.Mathews to PHI 38 for 12 yards
S.Bradford pass short right to M.Austin ran ob at ATL 47 for 15 yards
S.Bradford pass short middle to R.Mathews to ATL 39 for 8 yards
S.Bradford pass short right to R.Mathews to ATL 29 for 10 yards
S.Bradford pass short right to D.Sproles pushed ob at ATL 37 for 12 yards
S.Bradford pass incomplete short middle to Z.Ertz.
D.Sproles right end to ATL 10 for 27 yards
D.Murray left end pushed ob at ATL 5 for no gain

Yeah, that's what we thought last year too. A division game is a division game.

Except for the fact that Roddy White was also burning him all night. But to be fair, he is still learning how to play man better as he wasn't asked to do it much in Seattle.

One thing we learned from week one...
Kicking Games have gotten worse across the board (apparently)

there seemed to be a bunch of missed field goals and a few extra points too

FOUR PAT's missed in the first week. I'd say the NFL got their desired result. But here's the funny thing, kickers went 17 for 17 from 30-39 on FG's. Maybe PAT's are in their head? :suspicious:

agreed..!!!
Statistically its a 95 % kick
Yet now somehow the extra point has taken on an aura of high stress
and the kickers are absolutely feeling it

5 minutes left in the game and the Eagles have 107 yards of total offense.

Welcome to the NFC East.

Cowboys are 2-0 but now without their QB and best WR for the next ??? weeks
Giants are 0-2 after choking 2 games away after the final 2 minute warning
Eagles are 0-2 and not looking good
Skins may look like the least messed up team (assuming Romo and Dez are out for a while) at 1-1. Who would have thought?

No Dez and the Cowboys were okay, they could make due. But no Romo and it's not looking good. :ohno:
