In NYC, pack cigarette taxes $4.35 state, $1.50 city tax, (on top of $1.01 fed excise tax), +8.5% sales tax, upwards of $8 in taxes on a pack that will cost you around $12+ out the door..Why would people pay that when they can pay far less black market?

One re-seller in Kirkland already turned in a guy who approached them with 5 pounds of marijuana

an ounce is anywhere from $150 to $220 right now
Street price was $120 to $200

For reference - an ounce of Medium High Quality Marijuana in Atlanta has a street value of $250

Last time I bought pot in Montana (I think it was 2010) it was like 50 bucks for an eighth. I believe that works out to 400 bucks an ounce.
