Turkish F-16s Shoot Down Russian SU-24

Post by 93henfan »

Preliminary reports state Russian plane violated Turkish airspace. Turks warned Russians 10 times in 5 minutes and then shot it down, with Russian pilots ejecting over Syrian territory, but in an area populated by Turkmen rebels.

Should be good entertainment.

And you guys wanted me to answer how so many people could be involved and no one speaks out. WELL?!?! Now you see that it's all done without the pilots even knowing!

They've been testing us, Sweden, Norway, UK for a few years now just to see how close they could get to the border with their subs, fighters, and bombers. Looks like they finally got their wish. We'll have to see if NATO actually has the cojones to do anything about it if the Russians respond.

Anybody else loading up on ammo at lunch today? :coffee:

They're probably running across the Aleutians past Palin's house as we speak. Hopefully the Canadians can slow them down before they hit Cheney. 8-)

Obummer already banned 7n6, so I've got to sit on my four tins of 5.45.

This could be the last hurrah on Russian 7.62 if Putin retaliates. I might just have to pick up four more cases.

They've been violating Turkish airspace almost every day for several months. Turkey warned them some shit like this would happen. The Russians should have listened.

Oil prices too low, need to lift the market. :coffee:

Focus the nation on external threats instead of the miserable job Putin is doing. Let's hope that this plane isn't the next Archduke Franz Ferdinand and that the war profits crowd doesn't achieve their heart's desire.

The Sukhoi Su-24 was warned 10 times before being downed near the Syrian border by two Turkish F16 jets for violating the country's airspace, according to the Turkish military.

A Russian soldier was also killed while searching for the pilots after his helicopter was shot at in Syria, the Russian military said.

A Turkish official has told Reuters news agency Turkey believes the two pilots are still alive and is working to secure their release from Syrian rebels.

However, a rebel group has said it shot dead the two pilots as they tried to land safely in northern Syria after ejecting from the jet.

Turks are tough hombres. Gotta pin this on the Russians, though - Turkey warned them over and over not to bomb the Turkmen and then in this case warned them over and over to get out of the airspace.
