I picked UNC-Clumpson because it may be the two best QBs in FBS going head to head.

Heard some interesting chatter about this today. What if UNC beats Clemson. They would have won 12 in a row, they are averaging 45 points per game during this 11 game win streak, and would have just beaten #1, but they are getting no consideration.

Prolly because UNC's one loss was to 3-9 South Carolina, and they have two FCS wins.

Yeah, but 89's right. What if UNC comes out and blows the doors off of Clemson? Could happen. How do you put Clemson in when their best win is over a two loss ND team that people go out of their way to say isn't as good as their record? The committee has shown a track record of picking the hot team - who would be hotter than UNC if they beat Clemson, especially if they beat them by double digits?

The Iowa/MSU game is good, obviously, since the winner is in. Plus we get to see if Iowa is legit at all since they've flown under the radar in the lesser division of the Big 10 all year. But I think the winner of this game might be the only real competition to beat Alabama this year -I don't see OK or Clemson being able to stop 'Bama's running game, and if you can't do that, you can't beat 'Bama.

In a way I agree with you. It would be cool to have Iowa win the B10 championship and end up in the playoffs but their obnoxious asshole fans make it really hard to do. Plus I dislike them because they're too chickenshit to play us in basketball every year.

What's your point? Texas played neither Clemson nor UNC this year.

Why couldn't Clemson still be in with a loss to UNC? It would be one of the better losses than what many 1-loss teams have.

Big Ten winner is in.
Alabama is in with a win

So if UNC beats Clemson, you have to pick two from:

1) Oklahoma
2) Ohio State
3) Clemson
4) Iowa (if they lose to Michigan State)
5) North Carolina
6) Stanford (if they beat USC)

Committee goes with Oklahoma and Stanford.

Don't get me wrong, I wasn't agreeing that Clemson actually had a chance with a loss, but Flaggy's point that Clemson's loss would be a 'better' loss than just about anyone else's, but it would occur at the end of the season instead of the middle. That just shows how stoopid a four team playoff system is. Four is too few. 24 is too many. 8 or 16 seems to be the best IMO.

Agree. But hey, FCS started with four teams. Hopefully FBS will get to eight or sixteen one day.

Sixteen is way too many. I don't mind them having too few, at least it really limits the chances to have a bad, or multiple bad teams, in there. And once you open Pandora's box and expand, it's hard to keep it from expanding again. The FCS playoffs are overdiluted now as they are with 24 teams - never should've gone from 16. FBS has it right, keep it as small as possible for as long as possible.

8 or 16 works IMO. 24 stinks.

If you used the playoff committee rankings from today for top 16 you get:

Clemson/Oregon
Notre Dame/Florida State

Iowa /Ole Miss
Michigan St/Baylor

Alabama/Michigan
Stanford/UNC

Oklahoma/Northwestern
Ohio St/TCU

Holy shit does that look good to me.
