Good GRIEF.In the face of certain global environmental catastrophe, the world's nations for the first time agreed to slash greenhouse gas emissions as the Paris climate summit ended on Saturday.
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth

But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth

Re: We Have a Deal: Paris Climate Accord Officially Adopted
At this point the debate about the soundness of the science has gotten boring.
For me right now it's "get serious about nuclear power or shut the hell up". If you don't support nuclear power you either don't think climate change is a big problem for at least a long time or you are denying mathematical realities while accusing others of denying scientific realities.
If it's an emergency, act like it's one or I won't take you seriously.

Terrorists killing people NOW. A 2 degree temperature rise in 100 years. Which do I think is more important? That's really a tough one!

Can't you deal with both at the same time? Surely we have enough people that can focus on both those issues.TheDancinMonarch wrote:Terrorists killing people NOW. A 2 degree temperature rise in 100 years. Which do I think is more important? That's really a tough one!

No. Chemtrails have caused ADHD. At best, we are only capable of doing half of something at one time.Ibanez wrote:Can't you deal with both at the same time? When will this mess be submitted to the Senate for ratification, as the Constitution requires?
Or is this another one of those non-treaty treaties?

it's not a treaty, and there is no mechanism for enforcement.Ivytalk wrote:When will this mess be submitted to the Senate for ratification, as the Constitution requires?![]()

There is a cost/benefit analysis that should apply. Michael Smerconish (as I dodge tomatoes) wrote an excellent piece on the war on terror yesterday in the Philadelphia Inquirer. The war on terror has cost us trillions since 9/11 and created a slew of new government departments and programs. Same deal with war on drugs. Perhaps we should treat the root causes of terrorism and drug abuse instead?Ibanez wrote:Can't you deal with both at the same time? With climate change, perhaps we can start addressing the causes now instead of dealing with the more costly consequences a hundred years from now.
And I'm totally in favor of nuclear too.

I support nuclear power as well. And now excuse me, I must read this article you speak of.93henfan wrote:There is a cost/benefit analysis that should apply. Maybe I'm just not trusting enough to cede more power over my life to politicians who are promising results in 100 years. In 100 years I'll be dead. My children will be dead. Todays politicians will be dead. Hell, we'll all be dead! Who will be held responsible when it is determined that this whole thing is a scam on a grand scale? In a relatively short time in terms of the age of the earth North America went from being 1/3 covered with glaciers to what it is today. And this happened with no coal fired powered plants, no SUVs or any of the other bugbears that are blamed for warming. Now that was some warming that Mother Nature did on her own and I'm pretty sure she will do what she wants in the future.Ibanez wrote:Can't you deal with both at the same time? Re: We Have a Deal: Paris Climate Accord Officially Adopted
A few questions:
1) Are the greenhouse emissions from shipping included?
2) Are the greenhouse emissions from air freight included?
3) Does anyone know the amount of greenhouse emissions from #1 and #2?
4) Does anyone know the highest number of countries whose total emissions amount to less than the emissions generated from the sources in the first two questions?
5) Does anyone want to join me in rolling on the floor and laughing at ridiculous of it all?

I certainly intended to but I just found a piece of sausage from last Friday's pizza on the floor.Cluck U wrote: 5) Does anyone want to join me in rolling on the floor and laughing at ridiculous of it all?![]()

My spoiled middle-class kids wasted a sausage chunk.
I now have to show them a video of African kids with flies on their heads.

What kind of kids are you raising? Are they Muslin...or worse...vegan?
And what is this about some video with an African kid with a fly on his head? Gotta' be fake. Flies are full of protein...and those kids are supposed to be fast athletes. If some old Nip can teach a white 'Merican to catch a fly, you'd think that the African kids would be eating well.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...no one really interested in my questions (or the answers to my questions).
Well then, carry on...but don't say I didn't give you a heads up.
