30% of Republicans want to bomb Aladdin's fictional homeland

Post by Skjellyfetti »

Only 13% opposed. :coffee:
Almost one-third of Republican primary voters would support bombing the fictional kingdom of Agrabah, according to a report released by Public Policy Polling on Friday.

More than 530 Republican primary voters were polled this week on their support for Republican candidates and foreign policy issues including banning Muslims from entering the US, Japanese internment camps from the second world war and bombing Agrabah, the kingdom from Disney’s animated classic, Aladdin.

In its poll, Public Policy Polling asked the 532 Republicans: “Would you support or oppose bombing Agrabah?” While 57% of responders said they were not sure, 30% said they supported bombing it. Only 13% opposed it.

I saw a thing on the news where a guy walked around Yale and got 100 signatures on a petition to repeal the 1st amendment in 1 hour.
These geniuses have no idea what the 1st amendment is.

I think there was some sort of misleading going on. I think there was a mention of guns or "safe places" as he asked them to sign the petition. But there was a lot of emphasis on 1st amendment.

I would have probably signed kalm's name just to get away from the guy.

Is this surprising? Late night shows routinely have bits where they film people out on the street and they ask them any range of questions to reveal how little the interviewee actually knows. It's hard to overestimate the stupidity of the average person. :thumb: :ohno:

Sure. Why not if it's fictional anyway?
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth

But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star?

They "reject" 3rd parties because they don't have the need for a 3rd party. What little they want from politics and the government they can get from the existing two parties.

The thing that really made me chuckle about that guy at Yale is they were signing a PETITION to repeal the 1st amendment.

So? 100% of Nat Review readers think temps haven't risen.

"The wrong reaction — the one climate-deniers want you to have — is “Wow! Compared to zero degrees, that temperature hardly changes!”

But why would anyone compare average global temperature to zero degrees at all?
Philip Bump of the Washington Post is absolutely right when he says:

It’s akin to suggesting that Shaquille O’Neal and Mini-Me (aka Verne Troyer) are the same height because they’re both tiny compared to the planet Jupiter."

The voters aren't the constituency and they do want little from the government. In fact many wonder why government keeps spending so much.

"As congressional leaders were hastily braiding together a tax and spending bill of more than 2,000 pages, lobbyists swooped in to add 54 words that temporarily preserved a loophole sought by the hotel, restaurant and gambling industries, along with billionaire Wall Street investors, that allowed them to put real estate in trusts and avoid taxes.

They won support from the top Senate Democrat, Harry Reid of Nevada, who responded to appeals from executives of casino companies, politically powerful players and huge employers in his state. And the lobbyists even helped draft the crucial language.

Some executives at companies with the most at stake are also big campaign donors. For example, the family of David Bonderman, a co-founder of TPG Capital, has donated $1.2 million since 2014 to the Senate Majority PAC, a campaign fund with close ties to Mr. Reid and other Senate Democrats. TPG Capital has large holdings in Caesars Entertainment and helps run a Texas-based energy company, both of which stand to benefit from the last-minute change.

“For Senator Reid, it was important, as he represents Nevada, to help the large employers in his state,” said Kristen Orthman, a spokeswoman for Mr. Reid. She noted that Caesars, MGM Resorts International and Boyd Gaming, all Nevada-based casino companies, could benefit. A spokesman for Mr. Bonderman said he had played no direct role in pushing the cause, but did not dispute that his company was involved in the discussions with congressional staff members.

Both Ms. Orthman and the spokesman for Mr. Bonderman said it would be wrong to presume his contributions to Mr. Reid had played any role in the help his companies received."
