I'm not sure why it's funny, unless you're laughing at how bad the division is. Like I said, if the Eagles lose next week to the Cardinals and beat the Redskins and Giants they are NFC East champs regardless of what the other teams do.DSUrocks07 wrote:93henfan wrote:Eagles can win NFC East with a loss

The NFC East is so bad that the Eagles could lose out and STILL probably win the division.93henfan wrote:I'm not sure why it's funny, unless you're laughing at how bad the division is. Eagles getting some fortunate weather. Against Buffalo they get a midday 70 degree game. Against Arizona they get a night game with temps expected in the 30s.

Hopefully Carolina gives you a boost on Sunday.
Re: 2015 Philadelphia Eagles Thread
This is, strangely, an almost meaningless week for the Skins and Eagles. Sure, a win would be nice, but the most important game of the NFC East year is in Philly next week: Skins @ Eagles. And the second most important is the week after that: Eagles @ Giants. Those two games are going to determine how the tiebreakers all shake out.AshevilleApp wrote:Hopefully Carolina gives you a boost on Sunday.

Still a big week for the Skins though. Win-Loss-Win will give them the title coupled with:
Eagles: Loss-Win-Loss
Giants: Loss-Win-Win
Re: 2015 Philadelphia Eagles Thread
Heard some additional playoff scenario info for the Eagles on WIP this morning:
We already know they'll be NFC East champs if they lose to AZ and beat WSH and NYG.
They could also clinch the NFC East a week early if they were to beat AZ and WSH and if the Giants lose to Carolina tomorrow. They would have a better common opponent record than the Giants by virtue of wins over the Patriots and Jets. In that scenario, the week 17 matchup with the Giants would be meaningless and they could rest the starters.
That being said, I have a strange feeling the Giants could pull the upset on Carolina tomorrow. The Giants seem to wake up for big games outside the division. It's weird.

Holy shit. Johnson just two-holed Philly's defense.

We knew this one was going to be a loss, so no shock there. Eagles played well in the first half but then the turnovers took their toll.
Time to go and beat the Skins and Giants now.

Re: 2015 Philadelphia Eagles Thread
Last night's game was bad for what it means for Saturday. Eric Rowe concussion, is there any chance he clears protocol for Saturday? Byron Maxwell - multiple injuries - has trouble covering guys when he's healthy...
And since Jordan Hicks went down the Eagles might field the worst LB unit in the league.

But its the Skins and Giants, not Cards and Patriots, that they have to beat the next two weeks. I'd put money on the Eagles. If anything, I'm more worried about the Giants than the Redskins.bluehenbillk wrote:Last night's game was bad for what it means for Saturday. Here are the scenarios for winning the NFC East
If Skins win this week, Skins are in
If Eagles beat Skins, here are the scenarios:
- If Eagles then beat Giants, Eagles are in
- If Giants beat Eagles
------ If Skins win Week 17 (Dallas), Skins are in
------ If Giants lose this week and Skins lose week 17, Eagles are in
------ If Giants win this week and Skins lose Week 17, Giants are in

Yep, Skins and Eagles both control their destinies, as previously discussed. That's why yesterday's games were basically meaningless.
Kelly probably would have preferred to rest his starters yesterday, but you obviously can't do that without facing a wrath if you lose in week 16 or 17.

Not really meaningless93henfan wrote:Yep, Skins and Eagles both control their destinies, as previously discussed. That's why yesterday's games were basically meaningless.

If the Skins had lost, they would not have been able to lose to the Eagles and had a chance of getting in with a win in Week 17. Now they have that opportunity if the Giants beat the Eagles and Skins beat Dallas.
If the Eagles had beaten Arizona yesterday, they could have lost next week and then clinched the Division by beating the Giants if Dallas beat the Skins in Week 17. They lost that chance.
If the Giants had won yesterday, they would have clinched if they won out and Skins lost one of their next 2 games.
All of the above scenarios were realistic from a Week 16 & 17 results standpoint so, as of when the games were played, the games were not meaningless for any of those teams yesterday.

But like I said ad nauseum over a week ago, the games that really matter here are:tribe_pride wrote:Not really meaningless93henfan wrote:Yep, Skins and Eagles both control their destinies, as previously discussed. That's why yesterday's games were basically meaningless.

1. Skins at Eagles
