2015 Philadelphia Eagles Thread
Re: 2015 Philadelphia Eagles Thread
I think they're probably good enough to lose yet another late round playoff game. They're definitely a top ten team. Congrats.dbackjon wrote:Cardinals!!

Cards have a lot of weapons - one of top 3 offenses in the NFL If Mathieu is seriously hurt that will be bad.93henfan wrote:I think they're probably good enough to lose yet another late round playoff game. They're definitely a top ten team. Congrats.dbackjon wrote:Cardinals!!

If that #12 coukd actually catch the ball, they'd have scored 60 last night.dbackjon wrote:Cards have a lot of weapons - one of top 3 offenses in the NFL If Mathieu is seriously hurt that will be bad.93henfan wrote:

Of course, if the Eagles didn't turnover the ball, they could have scored 50 on the Cards.
Either way, Cards were the better team by far in the second half and deserved the win.

That was a boss run. It was a close game, I go take a dump and when I get back the Eagles are down by 20.JayJ79 wrote:

Yeah, John Brown dropped a few including a sure fire TD on the opening play93henfan wrote:If that #12 coukd actually catch the ball, they'd have scored 60 last night.dbackjon wrote:

Re: 2015 Philadelphia Eagles Thread
Right and I am disagreeing that they were meaningless. Both the Eagles and Giants made it harder on themselves to clinch the division by losing yesterday and Skins gave themselves a chance to lose a game down the stretch and still win the division. Because the Skins won yesterday and the other 2 lost, the Skins can rest their starters if they beat the Eagles. Would not have been able to do that if they lost last week because there would have been a chance that they would not have won the division with a win this week and a Giants win over Minnesota.93henfan wrote:But like I said ad nauseum over a week ago, the games that really matter here are:tribe_pride wrote:
Not really meaningless
If the Skins had lost, they would not have been able to lose to the Eagles and had a chance of getting in with a win in Week 17. Now they have that opportunity if the Giants beat the Eagles and Skins beat Dallas.
If the Eagles had beaten Arizona yesterday, they could have lost next week and then clinched the Division by beating the Giants if Dallas beat the Skins in Week 17. They lost that chance.
If the Giants had won yesterday, they would have clinched if they won out and Skins lost one of their next 2 games.
All of the above scenarios were realistic from a Week 16 & 17 results standpoint so, as of when the games were played, the games were not meaningless for any of those teams yesterday.
1. Skins at Eagles
2. Eagles at Giants
Not saying those aren't two potentially important games from now on but they were not the only 2 important games in the last 3 weeks of the season. Because of their loss to Carolina, Giants are eliminated if they lose to Minnesota this week.
If you look at my scenario table, the Cowboys-Skins game is important as well if Giants beat Eagles and Eagles beat Skins. The results of those 2 games will lead to what happens but just taking those 2 in a vacuum over the last 3 weeks would not alone determine the division champ.

USC is going to fire the coach they just hired?

I'm glad Lurie moved quickly. I had high hopes three years ago, but Kelly was obviously not in tune with the pro game, especially personnel wise.

Who's up next on the Eagle train?
The NFC East is a disaster - any competent coach should be able to win it.

The first job for Lurie is to hire a stud GM from outside the organization. Then let that guy find his head coach.dbackjon wrote:Who's up next on the Eagle train?

The coach that comes in will have his work cut out for him with the shambles of a roster left by Kelly. I give him three years before I light up the torches with the mob.

Jay Gruden actually doesn't suck that bad. Combined with their recycled/rehabbed GM Scot McCloughan and their ability to get Danny boy to get over his man crush on RGIII and allow Cousins to step up, they've actually cobbled together a respectably tough team...dbackjon wrote:Who's up next on the Eagle train?

I have been a little surprised at Washington - are they going to commit to Cousins and resign him?
But with the best win being either Buffalo or St. Louis, not really sure you can say they are a good team.
Re: 2015 Philadelphia Eagles Thread
This is gonna sound like sour grapes, but the Eagles fumbled seven times and Washington only beat them by two touchdowns. A good team would have beaten the Eagles 63-10.
The Skins will get smoked by the Seahawks at FedEx.

Re: 2015 Philadelphia Eagles Thread
If there was ever an indictment of Kelly's standing with Lurie, it had to be the Patriots game. Lurie personally visited the locker room and gave the pregame pep talk, telling the Eagles to "play angry" and they went out and won. Then the next week, t-shirts with "53 Angry Men" printed on the front were placed in each players locker before the Bills game, also won by the Eagles.
Lurie had lost faith in Kelly's ability to motivate the team. He had resorted to cheerleading, which is not Lurie's style at all.
Add in that Kelly let Desean Jackson go for nothing, and then he was celebrating all night on Saturday. Plus Kelly traded Lesean McCoy for a stiff of an Oregon LB (Alonso) and made no offer to retain Jeremy Maclin. Then he completely misuses Demarco Murray.
And he's developed a reputation as a racist among some black players. This after he barely gave Riley Cooper a slap after he was seen on video using the N word.
It just all added up. Easy decision for Lurie.

Re: 2015 Philadelphia Eagles Thread
I said tough, not necessarily good - they still have some real boneheaded morons on the team (watch the end of the Dallas game for example) - but they've progressed well this season after a rough preseason amid the whole RGIII circus. But Cousins has been lights-out as of late and if they end up with Minnesota in the first round they could make it a couple games into the postseason. If the Skins and the Seahawks both win, would you want to see them against the Cards?dbackjon wrote:Rob Iola wrote: Jay Gruden actually doesn't suck that bad. As for Cousins, who knows - if Snyder decides he likes him, there's no limit to what he'll pay to keep him...

They are going to end up playing in the NFC Championship game
The Cards and the Panthers are better than the Hawks - but Nobody else is in the NFC playoffs

Re: 2015 Philadelphia Eagles Thread
I don't like the idea of playing Seattle in basically back to back weeks.
So I would rather play Washington.
That being said, until the Cardinals win a Super Bowl, they will always be the underdog in my eyes.
