Great job, guys!

I think the only thread longer than this in FCS discussion this year was the FCS Elimination game?
This must be as validating as your win over_________? in the __________? bowl.

Who do you feel is the gold standard of MAC teams?

That 2012 NIU team you mention lost to a bad Iowa team and squeaked by a Kansas team that didn't win any FBS games. NIU also probably should have lost to Eastern Illinois that year as well. If they were really better I just don't see it.

Bowling Green and Toledo each by themselves might have as many P5 wins than the 2012 MAC, but I won't check.

It goes back to what I said early in this thread...the MAC helps themselves out in the AP poll by getting weak P5 games on their schedule. The top 3 teams in the Sun Belt played West Virginia, Georgia, Southern Cal, Mizzou, and Clemson. All of those except Mizzou are a big step over Maryland, Purdue, Iowa State, and Arkansas.

Oh.

It was the Camelia Bowl - the thread on which was 4 pages and as long or longer than the threads on the FCS semifinal games.

Also, the thread you posted in 5 or 6 times.

Lots of interest in the Fun Belt and Camelia Bowl here. :thumb:
And, waning interest in FCS football.

You're welcome. I'll be sure to stay away from those threads in the future!

I hope re-alignment eventually re-unites the Big Sky with the ASU's of the world in a new playoff subdivision. A 10-2 Mountaineers team could be playing a few December games at a packed KBS instead of one-off with no better than the same attendance in an ESPN fabricated and owned game in Montgomery. ;)

Actually, I believe the Camellia was a sell out. From the pictures I've seen, the stands were full (or very close). BUT, that's just icing on the cake for these Bowls. Bowl season is all about the ratings.
The Camellia Bowl had a ratings increase of 70+% (800,000 more viewers) compared to last year, and the GoDaddy ratings increased by about the same amount (1,000,000 more viewers). :thumb:

Yep, it was. And JSU - SHSU sold more tickets. Nice to see the ratings increase. :thumb: BTW, the NDSU-UNI game was comparable at a 1.644.

Not more than the GoDaddy. Those were great ratings...glad I could help. An all time high if I'm not mistaking. Barely beat out the Georgia Southern vs. ODU playoff game from 2012. :thumb: Just not comparable to the GoDaddy's 2.355 and being the highest rated cable show that night.

Interesting that so many Sun Belt posters choose to post here rather than on the Sun Belt board

I also notice you haven't posted in the thread about App State's attendance plummeting since the move

Let it go, Jon. Most of us don't even post about football on this board. App's attendance has fallen a bit, but I think and hope with teams like Miami and Wake Forest coming into KBS we'll see our attendance increase. I think we're also feeling out opponents to see our new natural rivals, etc. which factors into attendance. The geographic distances vs. the SoCon make it a bit different as well.

Next year's OOC is @ Washington State (1 hour drive), @ NDSU, and UNI in Cheney.

We get NDSU in Cheney the following year.

We also have Kent State coming as well. Not to mention, we hosted a Bowl team (whom we smoked...they also won their Bowl game) this past season as well. Ehhhhh details/schmetails...right?

2016 sucks, but we play Tech in Atlanta. It's a virtual home game since we had over 15K show up at Grant Field last year. :thumb:

Kent State in 2019! You are rolling!

I am truly happy that you are excited about Western Michigan, UMass and Kent State - a veritable who's who of College Football. Keep reaching for the stars, and don't let anyone hold you back! :thumb:

P.S. - good job in your first two years in the Sun Belt, I really have been rooting for you and App

Two words...Willie Quitz.

He was on his way out the door, and the team knew it.
From what I've been told, the team only practiced two days the week of the State game and they did absolutely no game prep. I have no problems with Fritz leaving...it's what happens. BUT, to absolutely and totally quit on your team while you're still getting paid to coach that team is unacceptable. :ohno:

In many ways - gave GagState a bowl game, for one.

It goes back to what I said early in this thread...the MAC helps themselves out in the AP poll by getting weak P5 games on their schedule. I don't know why you threw Arkansas in there. I don't think any of the top 3 teams in the Sun Belt would've had much of a chance against them. I think they're comparable to Southern Cal for sure and maybe Georgia. They didn't finish with as good a record as Georgia but they were playing in the SEC West while Georgia was playing in the SEC East.

Having said that I think it's kind of a fluke that Toledo beat them. They had 30 first downs to Toledo's 15 and 515 yards to Toledo's 318. How a team scores only 12 points while gaining 515 yards and notching 30 first downs is beyond me.
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth

You know, that brings up something I've wondered about. Why didn't Georgia Southern give the previous head coach a chance when they transitioned? I mean, if I'm thinking right, the guy's last game as head coach was a win over Florida. Why did they feel it necessary to go get a coach from another FCS school?

To me it kind of serves them right that Fritz kicked them to the curb as soon as he saw something shiny across the street.
