I love how you guys try to cherry pick in favor of guys on your side. Gas has been ridiculously high under both of these last two idiots. Just because it dipped under a US economic failure under the former and under a Chinese economic failure and a Saudi production decision under the latter absolves neither.

Yeah.

Looking at the price of gas on two different days probably paints an accurate picture of the last 15 or so years. :dunce:

I have no idea if gas was more expensive under Bush or Obama... but, it might be better to look at the average price over a longer time period if you actually care about finding out.

I'd still like for someone to explain how Obama has driven gas prices down and moved the stock market. :coffee:

Well, moving the stock market down and gas prices up would be very easy to do for a President. The opposite, not so much.

1) That's a $0.05 delta. I get it, 5 cents adds up, but c'mon. See #2.
2) There are 299 days left until Obama is gone. He has plenty of time to erase the delta.
3) Obama didn't magically make gas prices spike. I'm going to take a guess and suggest that instability and war in the Middle East was a bigger contributor to rising gas prices than the election of a Democrat.

It might also be worth it to look at the price of gas with inflation and the power of the dollar taken into account.

Only cool thing about the SOTU is the jets leaving DC airspace afterwards. They rock my house for a good three minutes, sounds like the world is exploding. 8-)

why bother since the price of gas doesn't matter? :coffee:

I'm just saying, you can't really compare the two prices against 2 dates, approx. 8 years apart. There is so much more involved.

And, Bush isn't any better than Obama due to the fact that the average price of gas when Clinton left office was $1.85.

By BDKs logic, a 4 cent increase is acceptable but a 5 cent is not. And since Obama has 299 days left, let's be realistic. How much was gas in January 2008? According to Consumer Report, $3.11/gal.

Price of Oil in January 2008 was $92.69 (January 11, 2008)
Price of Oil in January 2016 is $30.44

I don't support Obama, but let's get real.

Reagan, Dulles, or an executive airport?

Side note: My parents' house is about 10 miles away on the approach path to the runway at Dover AFB. I really got to appreciate the whining screech of the four turbines on the C-5 growing up.

My parents live on the storm route of BWI. It's a constant noise every 8 minutes overhead. You really depend on it when sleeping.

Also, all gas prices are a mother fucker. I self hate filling up at $1.90 and less and feeling good. Anyone who started driving in the late 80's should feel the same way. Sub $1 gas was a wonderful time. Emptying your change and getting a couple gallons before pay day. JEAMK!!!

I paid less than $1/gal in the late 90s. 'Twas glorious.

I don't remember <$1 gas previous to the first gulf war. I remember it spiking just after Desert Sheild.

Back in the day $1 would buy a quarter tank of gas for my '64 D100. 318, 4 spd. granny low. :coffee:

Gas here is usually very cheap. It was under $1 until 9/11.

The State of the Union is bad. We are looking at a realistic possibility of either having Bernie Sanders or Donald Trump as the next President. That, to me, means we have a real problem with the actual make up of the population.
