I have Joe, but nothing that leads me to believe Hitler really read Nietzche or was influence by his philosophy. I suggest you read Mein Kampf if you want to know more about who really influenced him. Again, Nietzche was never mentioned.

Joe, this line of argument by you betrays a serious lack of knowledge both of Nietzche and Hitler.

Hitler died a catholic.
You really have no idea, do you? DId you google Nietzsche and Hitler?

Hitler was an atheist, just like Stalin and Pol Pot.

You said you have awareness of any connection between Nietzsche and the Third Reich, and yet you talk about these subjects all the time. Really, you've made an ass out of yourself.

I'm not going to waste my time debating this with you, when you have admitted your own ignorance on the subject.

We're waiting for the quotes Joe... :geek:
Here's an excerpt from William Schirer's The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich. For those of you not familiar with the subject, such as D1B, Schirer's work is considered the most authoritative source on this subject matter. If you took a class on Nazi movement in college (cough, cough), you most definitely had to read this book.

This is quoted from the UBerekely website:

William L. Shirer's take on the Relationship Between Friedrich Nietzsche and the Nazis.

Here's an interesting Nietzsche quote appropriated by the Nazis, which lays rest to your claim that Nazism was a "Chrisitian" movement: "On Christianity: 'the one great curse, the one enormous and innermost perversion... I call it the one immortal blemish of mankind.... This Christianity is no more than the typical teaching of the Socialists.'"

Joe where are Hitler's quotes, LIKE YOU SAID?

Bullshit, I admitted ignorance you scumbag lawyer. I explicitley told you I was not aware of Hitler quoting Nietzche, BECAUSE IT DID NOT HAPPEN. All I know of his philosophy was pretty much the opposite of Hitler's - AS I EXPLICITY DEMONSTRATED.

The almighty Joltin Joe got caught talkin out of his ass and now he's pissed. Like the dork, scumbag lawyer he is, he's AGAIN resorting to personal attacks and his famous thread dodges he employs when backed into a corner.

Joe, just admit you don't know what you are talking about here and try to save face. SMFH.

Oh, BTW Hilter did die a catholic.

Joe, where is Hitler quoting Nietzche??? Like you claimed? So far, you've failed to provide anything after repeated requests. The only thing you do is make personal attacks and blow smoke up your catholic ass bout college classes you took at a catholic college.

Joe, just admit you were talking out of your ass again. Rather that quoting Shirer, how bout quoting HItler and your contention (lie) that Hitler "often" quoted Nietzche. This is a typical scumbag lawyer move: When pressed to provide evidence of your claim when you know you don't have any, use the next best thing and hope people confuse the two.

Joe, just admit you got busted talking out of your ass again. :geek:

The Third Reich quoting Nietzsche isn't good enough for you. You are a glutton for punishment.

You know, Nietzsche defenders try to claim all the time that Hitler never read Nietzsche. How could you possibly know? Publicly, Hitler honored Nietzsche, in fact making a highly publicized visit, documented by the Nazi propaganda machine, to the Nietzsche museum shortly after he became Chancellor. Whether he read NIetzsche or not, Nietzsche's thoughts found their way in much of the Third Reich's propaganda.

As I said earlier, I don't think Nietzsche would have condoned the Nazis' use of his writings, but there as a fair amount in his material that was easily appropriated by the Nazis.

Now, nowhere in this thread, save for one off-hand response to a question posed by Grizalltheway, did I say Hitler quoted Nietzsche. I have pretty consistently said Nazis/Third Reich and even my one reference to Hitler personally is more fairly read, in context, to more broadly mean the Nazi movement as a whole.

As for Nietzsche, his lack of a consistent or systematic outlook renders him a controversial and difficult figure. Here's a 1987 article from the NY Times which I think underscores the problem presented by Nietzsche's lack of clear expression or thought, and which discusses the efforts underway to rehabilitate Nietzsche's reputation and his connection to the Third Reich:

East Berlin Journal; Strange Bedfellows: Marxists Embrace Nietzsche

This is the best anyone will get here as far as a retraction from the almightly Joltin Joe. I guess I'll take it and add:

I know Hitler didn't read Nietzche the same way I know you didn't - you both demonstrate in your writings and actions absolutetly no knowledge of his philosophy. If anything, Hitler was the exact opposite. Nietzche would have hated Hitler and the Third Riech.

That Hiter appropriated him or a misunderstanding of his writings as a foil against marxism is a non issue for this discussion. Scumbag.

Hitler made the much publicized visit to the Nietzche archives only after an invitation by Nietzche's sister and brother in law - both fervent anti-semites, fanatic Nazis, and wealthy benefactors of the nazi party. This trip was well orchestrated by german propaganda machine and Shirer most likely used prepared Nazi articles as his source for this section of Rise and Fall. While a great book, Rise and Fall has been criticized by historians for it's lack of sholarship on certain key points, including this one.

Nietzche's sisters' abuse of her brother's name for personal gain and to promote her and her husbands veiws on race is legendary. In fact, Will to Power and other of his last writings were partially rewritten by her to help push her warped anti semitism and German nationalism. All serious scholars disregard most of these writings.

Joe, you are a smart guy, sometimes, but you don't know everything. You too also fall victim to cliche thinking like this pathetic and old catholic attempt to hold Nietzche up as the godfather of National Socialism.

The truth is National Socialism and it's horrors originated from the the most educated and most christian and most catholic nations in the world at the time. The easy thing, like what you do as an apologist, is to find other things to blame this on, but it takes a man of courage and learning, like me, to finger the real problem - which was and still is religion.

I have forgotten more Nietzsche than you've ever read. You are a puppet of the internet atheism machine.

There is so much which is patently flawed in your post to anyone who has ever read Nietzsche and is familiar with the history of the Third Reich. BTW, the manner in which the Nazis understood Nietzsche's concept of the "ubermensch," was explicitly detailed in Dostoyevsky's "Crime and Punishment." Interesting that, as Nietzsche's insanity took hold him, he was seen hugging a horse being whipped in the street, much as the lead character in "Crime and Punishment" did.

To say that Nazism distorted Nietzsche is atheistic revisionism. Of course, Neitzsche's revulsion to Christianity is what has caused this post-modern revisionism. Jeff, sit down and really read Nietzsche. There is not much there to admire.

Joe, Nietzche is the father of modern secularism, hence your disdain for him. Joe you are a catholic apologist and blind lemming, and a lawyer.

That being said, here again we have a classic Joltin Joe dodge: with fatalistic drama, call something patently flawed yet fail to offer any specific reason why. Then attempt to save face by steering the argument towards Russian literature.

You're the student who hasn't done any of the reading assignment, but has all the answers.

Simple fact: Catholics were a distinct minority in pre-WW II Germany. Protestants were 67% of the population. To the extent that the roots of anti-Semitism were Christian in origin, it came from the writings of Martin Luther, who was a notable anti-Semite.

You are a waste of my time.

You wasted everyone's time with your unfortunate Nietzche reference. You got called on it, you resorted to personal attacks and scumbag lawyer tricks and got exposed as unknowledgeable on the subject.

You said Hitler often quoted Nietzche. Now you know better and you are welcome.

Notice my use of the plural "nations". While a minority in germany, Catholics were the vast majority in Mussolini's Italy - Hitler's best friends and co-nazi conpirators.

Joe, where do you think Luther got his foundation for anti semitism? Yep the catholic church. So much so in fact that your pope apologized for their role in contributing to world wide anti semitism. But we all know the almitghty Joltin Joe is smarter than the pope.

Joe, you are an egomaniac and an asshole who resorts to personal attacks when utterly wrong. You are an embarrassment to seekers of truth and reasonable catholics who accept blame for their transgressions against humanity.

You used to be better than that. What happened?
Z, you kill people through your support of atrocities committed in the Middle East by the United States during the Bush Administration. An administration who's actions you blindly supported, and continue to support to this day, even with a glaring record of failure.

Z, killers like you need to be held accountable for your political beliefs, which can, and in your case - DO kill people.

Joe does the same through his blind support of the Catholic Church. He, like you in Iraq and Afghanistan, bears partial responsibility for the overpopulation of Africa and the resulting genocides and wars.

Actually, blame overpopulation on the "green" revolution of improved seeds, fertilizer, etc.

Joe, you are an egomaniac and an ******* who resorts to personal attacks when utterly wrong. You are an embarrassment to seekers of truth and reasonable catholics who accept blame for their transgressions against humanity.
You are an unstudied tool of the internet atheism movement. You have never studied any of this on any serious level. You're not fooling anyone around here with your constant tactic of backpedaling and name calling.

The modern atheist movement in the United States was the product of Madelyn Murray O'Hare, a woman who would embrace any lie if had the utility of advancing her cause, and a woman whose own son has even called evil and twisted. This tradition of intellectual dishonesty and twisting of facts and thoughts continues, live and well, on the websites you frequent, and you are painfully incapable of understanding just how badly you are being duped because you have never read or studied the underlying writings.

Ding, ding, ding another classic Joltin Joe dodge: Insinuate that you are part of an world wide movement to discredit religion, but offer no substantial argument or really address any points at all.

Joe are you saying the JP did not apologize for the church's role in fostering anti semitism?

Just what was the legacy of anti semitism that Luther drew from?

Are you saying catholics were a minority in fascist Italy?

Really, just specifically address something Joe.

SMFH Your attempt to put a wet blanket on this wont work. Apologize and recognize your error on this thread, or I'm gonna keep hammering you...and you have nothing. :geek:

No, the Pope did not apologize for the Church's role in "fostering anti-Semitism." If you actually read the text of the Pope's apology, rather than some summary of it on one of your wesbites, you might actually understand precisely what the Pope apologized for.

Luther's anti-Semitism largely stands on its own.

Did the Holocaust occur in Italy?

In fact, the Jewish population of Italy was significantly spared the worst of the Holocaust, and the Jews in Rome were largely spared due to the direct intervention of the Church. Have you read Eichhman's diaries, released in 2000 by the Israeli government, in which Eichmann complains about how the Church foiled plans for the "Final Solution" in Italy?

Please stop. You don't know what you are talking about.

This coming from someone who said Hitler "often quoted Nietzche".   A stellar example of not having a basic understanding of Nietzche's philosophy and never reading Mein Kampf where hitler lays out his personal philisophy including influences. Nietzsche never mentioned.

The latest Pew Report shows that atheists are 1.6% of the American population.

Why, if their viewpoint is so much more "enlightened," can't they convince more people?

Because they continually twist and distort like you are seeing in this thread by D1B, and people know it. They think people are stupid enough to be bullied if they just repeat the same inanity over and over again.

To the extent you have any knowledge of Nietzsche, it's because you read about it on an atheist website, and that is crystal clear to me.
