This is one my favorites of all time, good stuff.
I liked when the main character goes back home and his mom tells him that they kept his room exactly like he left it.

I've got a little secret...
I've been boycotting the Oscars for my entire life - before it was cool

Brokeback, which was a really good movie, lost to an inferior movie in the Best Picture Category.

This thread is so lame - a non-starter topic for me.

However, isn't it ludicrous that Straight Outta Compton isn't up for Best Score or Song? :thumb: :thumb:   :kisswink: :kisswink:

I don't know. Saw Ride Along 2 last night....the chick that plays Ice Cube's sister and Kevin Hart's love interest could get my Oscar up any time...

Well, the category is for best "original" song - was there a good song in there that hadn't already been released 20 years ago? All the good songs in that movie wouldn't be eligible for an "original" song category as a result of being previously released material.

Then call it "Best Score"!! Go back to your lily-white Barry Manilow, Barbara Streisand & the Beatles.

Does it have a good score? Do you know that or are you just being argumentative because there wasn't a truly original song that could fit that category? Again, it's not how awesome the songs are (and there are plenty of really good songs in the movie) but the score is the instrumental music that goes along with the movie itself. How good is that stuff?

Where the Oscars should change though in this regard, however, is in the rules for the original song. Now, they're not going to change the rules so that previously released material can be plugged into a movie and get an award, that's what the Grammy's are for, but in cases where a song is written specifically for a movie and released for a movie, there are rules in place now that disqualify a song that relies on sampled or reworked material - so that rule basically disqualifies a lot of rap or hip hop just there. That's why "Gangsta's Paradise" wasn't eligible as an original song back in the 90's even though it was released only through the movie. That's where it is lilly white and should change.

Oh, and I thought O'Shea (Ice Cube's kid) should've gotten an acting nomination, he was particularly good. And considering that they expanded the potential list of films that could be nominated to any number between 5 and 10, you would've thought they could've thrown a bone to this film - it was never going to win, but that's not the sole point of nominating a film.

Where were all of the Irish nominees? How about the Portuguese nominees? Asians outnumber everyone in this world, so why aren't there more Asian nominees...or are we not thinking on a global scale? Shame on Hollywood for not embracing world diversity.

I disagree with the title of this thread. It is never a failure to exclude negroes.

Exactly...Blacks want to have their BET awards and their other Black only wards...no Whites allowed...but they want to be included in the Oscars.

What a fvcking joke.
