have your rights been denied by our new president there Grand Wizard? or are you just having one of your middle-aged self-satisfied smirks at the fact that the referendum to deny rights to some residents of California passed with the same margin as the President was elected by nationally?

Last time I checked, you still had the right to marry someone and all of the protections that the Constitution provides to your fellow Americans... however that can't be said for Jon if he were to live in CA... and that's where the problem lies.

The problem with this is that they are saying that ANYONE's rights can be denied by a simple majority.

And, the ruling is constitutionally unsound, since according to the California Constitution, propositions of this nature must be referred to the people by the legislature.

Republican Activist judges screwed the pooch on this.

African Americans, who voted 95-5% for Obama, voted 70-30% in favor of Prop 8.

Bitch and moan all you want, but the people of California have the same opinion of our President, our Secretary of State, and of many past President's as well.
'swhat I keep saying.

This is about the rule of law.

The "Same-Sex Marriage" proposals in California should be more aptly titled the "Settle The Score By Getting Revenge" proposal as they all entail legal mechanisms allowing the GLBT community to litiguously target businesses and churches who have not supported "gay rights" not only in the present, but in the past also.
Quite frankly, most Californians don't give a rat's ass who anyone else marries, but the anti-hetero/ant-religion hatred that the GLBT activists have been spewing for the past decade is as nauseating as listening to a Klan rally.

Until the "quiet" members of the GLBT community begin slapping down the "mouths" and lawyers who are trying to use the battle over their rights as a means of financial and vengeful enrichment, this issue will never be resolved.
Dude - kiss my motherfucking ass. Typical rightwing BULLSHIT.

We get abused, tortured, killed, beaten, discriminated against, denied rights for who we are. But then we when FUCKING DARE to demand equality, we are now oppresing the oppresser.

Gays can thank three primarys here:

First and foremost christian fundamentalists and the Catholic Church

The Republican Party (Z, T, wild and you other shitheads)

Black men - for some reason they are threatened by gay men. I just don't get it.

Does anyone have a link to the full decision? I can't find one and it's not up on Lexis yet.

I don't like to comment on things I haven't read, but I can't say I'm surprised by this outcome, and I don't see any hope of review in the US Supreme Court.

Supporters of gay marriage will need to try to repeal Prop 8; that's the only way, as far as I can see.

You have such a small frame of reference ... You forgot to mention it's because of Nietzsche, because Nietzsche was gay, and no one likes Nietzsche.

I haven't read the entire decision yet, have you? Its 183 pages long and I'm about 45 into it.

My feeling has more to do with the Prop 8 campaign than it does with this decision. The decided the case based on the strict letter of the law, which is fine. My problem is really that the entire Prop 8 process was used in a way that was never intended by any Consitution in this country. Prop 8 was used was used by a few to manipulate voters into voting for something with consequences they knew very little about. They took advantage of the CA Consitution's weak amendment clause, and they interlaced religion into a proposal to amend the foundational document to their legal system. A document that has nothing to do with religion. That is a perversion of the intent of the document and that is the problem I have.

Had they run the Prop 8 campaign without using religion as a crux, I likely wouldn't feel this way. But then again, had they not used religion, Prop 8 would have never passed anyway.

I see people saying a lot about it being a Republican thing here but isn't it fairly evenly split between the parties when it comes to who's against this? If that's the case then why it is being laid at the feet of the Republicans and the idiot moral compass evangelical crowd? Is it because they are the ones that are saying out loud what a lot of others are thinking to themselves? I heard that it was fairly even with dems/repubs a few weeks back on the radio...is that correct or just some Booolshit?

No, he said Hitler often quoted Nietzche and he was wrong. He must apologize to me and my employer for wasting our time and for his personal attacks. Or retract. :|

But he won't because he feels the need to be always right and will go to ridiculous lengths to make it appear as such. :geek:

Sorry, Joe...I am.

Anytime a person attempts to silence dissent...even if that dissent is seemingly abhorrent, the person doing the silencing is an oppressor. Christians are following their religious doctrine, as are Muslims, Jews, etc... Right or wrong, to castigate a person for their religious beliefs is no less inappropriate than to castigate a person for who they love.

I am not against same-sex marriage, Joe. I am vehemently against the Macchiavellian manner in which the GLBT activists are attempting to validate themselves by diminishing others.
