This is bad government from top to bottom
the city admin turned down an offer from Detroit to go on their water, saying, "our water is fine" - fire the mayor
the EPA sat on the info for months while settling a dispute with the state's environmental agency - fire the EPA manager and punish the governor at the ballot box

Can't really fire the Mayor, because there was a State appointed Emergency Manager in place who pushed it through. Maybe fire and impeach/recall both though. EPA manager yes. I really didn't know it got into a pissing match between them and the MDEQ.CID1990 wrote:This is bad government from top to bottom

Doesn't surprise me though. I've watched something similar with a situation here for several years. EPA and NCDENR (now NCDEQ) arguing about responsibility and jurisdiction. Meanwhile, the property owners keep getting cancer in inordinate numbers.

Re: We are an angry culture
EPA Regional Head just resigned yesterday as a result of this disaster. I think the MDEQ folks have resigned already but could be wrong. The Emergency Manager guy probably should follow, although the issue with him isn't the decision to use Flint River as the source (you could use that river if you treated the water properly before it got to the pipes), it's that he didn't get involved enough to stop the MDEQ and the EPA from bickering while the whole town was getting lead poisoned. The fact that people knew there was an issue more than 6 months ago and didn't do anything about it is pretty much as criminal as it gets. Time to lawyer up.AshevilleApp wrote:Can't really fire the Mayor, because there was a State appointed Emergency Manager in place who pushed it through. Maybe fire and impeach/recall both though. Yeah. All on the governor because he's the ONLY republican in the picture. No responsibility given to the local donks, federal donks, city admin (donks), mayor (donk), etc., etc., etc. Yep. All the governor's fault. What a fucking retard you are.mrklean wrote:ASUG8 wrote:The governor is taking blame and releasing his emails effective immediately, yet the donk mayors who served under him are in hiding or blaming the state. There's plenty of blame to spread around and even early reporting on the story makes it obvious that the city government made bad decisions and the EPA sat on the reports.
The only person in all of this showing any integrity at all (even though it is after the fact) is the governor who is admitting he has culpability as well.

Yes they have, for the last 50+ years they've been in control of this country.Pwns wrote:But tea party conks have let our infrastructure crumble.

Meanwhile...in Lansing...The Republican infatuation with the anus continues.
http://usuncut.com/news/instead-of-help ... y-illegal/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;Up to 8,000 children in Flint, Michigan have potentially been poisoned by their own water supply, and so the Michigan Senate has bravely come together to push through a bill that… bans anal sex.
The insanity of this move is made even more outrageous by the fact that 1) Michigan already has a sodomy ban and 2) the ban is completely pointless. The 2003 Supreme Court case of Lawrence vs. Texas declared sodomy bans unconstitutional in all states.
So, to reiterate, rather than help citizens that are being poisoned by their own water, Michigan senators chose to spend their time and money upholding an already existing sodomy ban that is impossible to enforce.
