Liberty University endorses Trump

Post by dbackjon »

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/pos ... ses-trump/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Liberty University president Jerry Falwell Jr., the son of the late televangelist, endorsed Donald Trump on Tuesday, giving the Republican front-runner the blessing of one of the evangelical community’s biggest names just days before the Iowa caucuses.

In a statement, Falwell called Trump “a successful executive and entrepreneur, a wonderful father and a man who I believe can lead our country to greatness again.”

So old "Two Corinthians" Trump has reinvented himself as a man of faith. Talk about turning on a dime...

At Cornwallis' surrender the British troops marched out of Yorktown with cased colors as a regimental fife and drum corps played a tune called "The World Turned Upside Down".

Thats how this election cycle feels

no matter who wins- it will be exactly who we all deserve

Oh please you drama queen...
Trump is playing the Conservative base like a fiddle
and they're biting like starved catfish in a barrel

He's only proving what Republicans have been trying to deny for decades
From the two thirds mark and down the Republican voting core is stupid as a box of cold blue rocks
Liberals have had to shoulder that hard truth since I was in High School
its nice to see it confirmed on the other side as well

1) is that a shock?
2) don't you think the number is higher than that (i.e. people are even more stupid)
3) don't you think that same percentage really applies to the American electorate in general? Does any one party have a monopoly on stupid?

We have a paradox right now but up until now exit polling results have historically strongly suggested that it is the Democratic Party that benefits most from voters of below the average range in IQ as well as from voters who are least educated. We'll see what happens this time.

If polls are to be believed, though, a plurality of Republican primary voters are indicating an incredibly stupid preference right now though. No doubt.

BTW, as I said in another thread, a Trump candidacy will put forth a candidate that will be problematic for the Republicans in terms of maintaining the kind of support they've traditionally had among Evangelical Christians. For instance, yes, today Falwell endorsed the clown. But, also today (as noted in another thread), a group of female pro life activists including the founder of Concerned Women of America, the current President of Concerned Women of America, and the current President of the Susan B. Anthony list declared in an open letter to Iowa voters that they should vote for somebody other than Trump. One quote from their letter:
Moreover, as women, we are disgusted by Mr. Trump’s treatment of individuals, women, in particular. He has impugned the dignity of women, most notably Megyn Kelly, he mocked and bullied Carly Fiorina, and has through the years made disparaging public comments to and about many women. Further, Mr. Trump has profited from the exploitation of women in his Atlantic City casino hotel which boasted of the first strip club casino in the country.

If he's the nominee he is not going to benefit from solidarity among what is perhaps the most important voting block to Republicans.

If "pro life" women are an important voting block for the GOP then RIP.

They are. But that's not what I'm talking about per se. I'm talking about the larger block Evangelical Christians. Things like the fact that Trump owned casinos and strip clubs are going to cause some problems if Trump is the nominee.

Let me say that I have no problem with casinos and strip clubs. But that's going to cause some issues for Trump when it comes to getting Evangelical Christians to support him to the extent that they normally support Republican candidates if he gets to the general election.

So winning the election isn't really part of the equation right..?

Liberty University trains and employs some of the best and brightest evangelicals.

(Like Superhornet...)

Evangelicals are great at just following the pack... and not thinking for themselves. I don't see why this would be any different.

FYI, as with the Palin endorsement, I'm not thrilled with this.

In the Cali Primary, I'm currently planning to vote for Dr. Carson....

Trump has JSO emitting so much steam out of his ears that JSO is now quoting women's rights groups for validation.

This is just too rich.

I fucking love Trump and will be voting for him for pure entertainment value only. He won't win Delaware, so it's harmless really.

And skjellyputty is ripping the tits off the Trump threads. Credit where due. We share a dislike of the whole Evangelical tard movement.
