I pretty much agree with that order. Christie, Kasich, and Bush all had their best debates. Cruz was good, Trump except for the disaster around the whole eminent domain debate. Was Rubio's worst debate to date. Not a disaster but he can't have another like this in the final 2. It might have been Carson's best debate, but he is out of his element. He just needs to drop out.

Christie definitely bested Rubio on the 2 head to heads. But in the 1st one Rubio stated that NJ's credit rating has been decreased 9 times under Christie as gov. Now whether or not that's true I have no idea. And no one else does either, because Christie failed to respond to that or attempt to defend it. So on that 1st one Christie didn't hit a triple rather than a home run and at this point he needs to hot a hit a home run every time.

And the one other time when Christie mentioned ordering a pizza and popping a beer I was like  :ohno: The one candidate who can't talk about food...
Yes it is true. The credit rating is directly tied to the underfunding of pension plans. However, the underfunding began in the early 1990's under a Democrat Gov, and continued under many more Dem Govs. The pensions are still being paid but there could be a problem down the road. But there are too many immediate problems to worry about. Problem is that the credit ratings will force a higher interest rate for monies borrowed by the State.
Ok then, but how come Christie didn't address or defend it? While Christie had Rubio on the ropes, I was waiting for a defense from Christie on the credit rating thing. It never came.

Christie jabbed that Rubio, as a senator, doesn’t have the executive experience needed to be president, citing Barack Obama as a cautionary tale. Rubio was ready with an answer to that: “This notion that Barack Obama doesn't know what he's doing?” he said. “He knows exactly what he's doing.” Rubio isn’t the only candidate to suggest that Obama is more evil genius than bumbling fool—Ted Cruz has done the same—but the crowd wasn’t buying it. Maybe Rubio’s phrasing was just too clever.

But when Christie mocked the idea, Rubio started repeating it—paving the way for Christie’s right hook, an accusation that Rubio just repeats talking points: “There it is, the memorized 25-second speech.”

And Trump at one point in response to Rubio's "Obama knows exactly what he's doing" spiel, which Rubio repeated I think 4 times throughout the night, Trump basically counters with Obama doesn't having a f'ing clue. Well they are both right, and both wrong. In SOME areas, Obama knows exactly what he's doing in laying out his liberal agenda. And in SOME areas he doesn't have a f'ing clue. Trump can just be bombastic, as its his schtick. Rubio needs to nuance it more though.

Didn't bother watching the debate. Rubio will be fine and still make the final cut after big Tuesday. :coffee:

Well considering Obama has outmaneuvered, out PR'd and in general out classed the GOP led Congress...yes, Obama knows exactly what the fuck he is doing.

Well, he can probably counter with that the prior debate, debate #7, a lot of people think Rubio won. Won round 7, knocked to the canvas in round 8. Wasn't Ko'ed, but he was reeling a little. 1st time that has happened in 8 rounds.

In prior debates he totally countered Bush attacks, and has been pretty effective with the Brown on Brown with Cruz. We'll see what happens in round 9 next Sat on CBS from Greenville, SC.

Maybe, but I think this performance might open the door a little for Christie and Kasich, knock Rubio back a few points and make it close, extending the primary.

That's the "he dont know what he's doing" side of the argument.

Slowly but surely I'm starting to see the moderate side of Trump begin to take form...subtle hints like that.

I've had it with Christie. What we needed is for him to go after Trump. Instead he goes after Rubio. I once said there is no way I'd ever vote for him after he sucked Obama's cock during the Sandy afternath. I'd softened some. But after he did what in that debate, no way. I wouldn't vote for him if he were running against Al Sharpton. Dick head.

The guy had not shot and he still has no shot. If he was going to try to tear somebody down he should've been going after the guy that's the biggest problem. And that ain't Rubio.

He has to win the establishment or non-Trump primary first. Whoever does that figures to have a bunch of support down the stretch.

Nobody is going to get ahead by going after Trump, because he has nothing substantive to say in reply. The smart thing to do is go after Rubio because he's the one people will look to once the clown car novelty of Trump and Cruz wears off

What good does it do for him to break down Trump? That hands the election to Cruz or Rubio. He's gotta pass Rubio and Cruz before he worries about Trump.

On the one hand its erie the Obama-Rubio comparisons. But at least Rubio is a lot more qualified than Obama was at this point in 2008.

Obama: 8 years state legislator, 2 years in the US Senate when he declared his candidacy for president at the age of 45. Law degree, taught law classes, spent time practicing law.

Rubio: 9 years as a state legislator, 4 years in the US Senate when he declared his candidacy for president at the age of 43 (now 44). Law degree, taught law classes, spent time practicing law.

But here is where they differ: Obama spent a large portion of his time in the Illinois state legislature voting "present". Rubio was elected majority whip in 2000 at age 29, house leader in 2002 at age 31, and speaker in 2005 at age 35. A meteoric political rise. Obama had nothing like that in the Illinois state legislature.
