According to your article, the executive order was a part of the 2014 sanctions against Russia for the annexation of Crimea.

Argue against imposing sanctions on Russia if you'd like. But, you are painting this as if the executive order was about gun control.

I wonder whatever happened to all those chain steak restaurants:
Quincy's
Western Steer
Western Sizzlin'
Ryan's
Sagebrush
I guess maybe the Golden Corrals, Lone Stars, Texas Roadhouses, Longhorns, etc. ran them out of business?

We used to have

I thought these were all gone too, but it appears there's still one open in the Spokane Valley and 45 throughout the west. I met Stewart and his wife a couple times. They used to park their big ass RV in our parking lot for a night on their way to some big annual cowboy shindig in Eastern Montana. Their ranch used to be right off I-90 outside of Ellensburg. Nice folks!

I think Sizzler and all of those on my list were probably of the same ilk. Inexpensive hamburger steak, baked potato, and maybe a salad bar with some big yeast rolls.

Just one problem with that, Trip. Obama declared the recession to be "over" in national terms, and completely ignored the regional aspects, as if the Left Coast doesn't matter in his IL-HI world. We're still paying over $2/gal for gas at most places, and many other prices (dependent on fuel prices, of course) are still sky high. Unemployment is through the roof out here, and he doesn't freaking care because it doesn't fit the progressive narrative.∞∞∞ wrote:You know, places close down all the time; it doesn't mean we're still in a recession (from an objective POV, we're not). There's MORE proof that Obama lied when he declared the Recession over....
Hometown Buffet has closed more than 70 restaurants nationwide in the last week, including 6 in San Diego and several more in the Sacramento area, putting a TON of people out of work, sometimes even entire families who worked at various HBs in a geographic area. There was ZERO notice on this; people showed up for a shift after having scheduled their entire week of child care based on their previously promulgated work schedule and found locked doors and a request to come in to get their final check.
This administration is despicable in the way they lie about the economy....

California doesn't fit the progressive narrative? I thought California was ground zero for how progressives are going to save the world?

Not exactly, Jon. I have two part-time jobs (substitute paraeducator with our local school district for 6 hr/weekday and a 3-hr/3 nights a week job at our local newspaper). I'm STILL trying to break into the State, which supposedly has a TON of jobs available right now (a massive flood of retirements), but I'm convinced that I'm the token male/token vet at all their interviews. SMH....

Come to think of it, YOU were the one that lead the derailment with the Hometown Buffet mention.

A paraeducator works in a special ed classroom supporting teachers, either as a formal TA or in a one-on-one role with students who require that kind of assistance. Depending on the classroom, it can either be a really easy job, or one you want to quit on the first day. I've only been doing this since November, and I've already experienced both.Cluck U wrote:JFC...they drop educators into schools in California by parachute?SuperHornet wrote:Not exactly, Jon.
