It sure is. The Democratic party, that is now a far left party, condemns people for being religious. The Republican party, that is now a far right party, condemns people for not being religious. What ever happened to live and let live.

Hey, truly, thanks for that. I needed to read it several times just for it's sheer awesomness! :thumb:

I like the idea that evangelicals can be liberal. Some of the kindest people I know are evangelicals. The less christian conservatives have a stranglehold on the faith, the better. So yes, I do agree with much of what she said. You know who else does? That dude that leads 1.2 billion Christians

But what does he know about Jesus? Prolly thinks he was a hippy socialist. :ohno:

(As an aside, voting for Democrats instead of Republicans doesn't automatically mean you are following Christ's path either. I admit that.)

Uhmmm...those quotes from the pope don't confirm anything about what Jesus believed.

The new guy in the seat behind the walls is simply making comments that reflect what he believes. Well, sort of.

So, how much of the Catholic church's wealth has he given away since he put on the hat? Billions? Free land for anyone who had it taken away by the church many years ago? He's selling the art, the gold, the little red shoes, the properties...and just giving the profits away to the unwashed masses? :suspicious:

Oh, a quick Googlicious check reveals that the Pope isn't doing that on any scale that is measurable. So, in other words...same shIt, different day.

Carry on.

It's really no different than the Pope calling for open borders between Mexico and the US while he lives behind the walls of the Vatican. Not to mention that the Vatican has the most strict immigration policy in the world.

Didn't Jesus heal a centurion's young male concubine?
No. There's nothing in the Gospels about Jesus healing a centurion's concubine young male or otherwise.
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth

No. There's nothing in the Gospels about Jesus healing a centurion's concubine young male or otherwise.

There's also nothing in the Gospel that says anything about a Religion being formed either...

There's also nothing in the gospel about:

Insisting that church meet on certain days
Reciting ritualistic prayers
Saying you aren’t saved unless you get baptized
Requiring you to perform rituals
Being saved is conditional upon attending church or church membership
Saying that you have to earn your salvation by doing good deeds

Remember:
"God...dwelleth not in temples made with hands"

Christianity in all its present forms was NOT called for by Jesus
Nor any of it's rituals
it is complete fabrication based on misinformation, greed and hunger for power

To my knowledge there is also nothing about Evangelical Protestant Christianity that says those things either. I guess you could say there is a tradition that Church is on Sunday. But I don't know of anything that says that HAS to be the day.

But here's the thing: Jesus did say that YOU are supposed to help the poor. This thing of acting as though it's "Christian" to petition government to make OTHER PEOPLE help the poor is a bunch of crap. The idea that your'e being "Christian" by voting in a way so as to make that rich guy over there help the poor is nonsense.

Ain't got no use for Jesus. Ain't got no use for liberals.

But he didn't say you shouldn't.

Something tells me 1) Jesus probably didn't have a ton of faith in the governments of his time, and 2). if he were around today, he wouldn't be walking around protesting government welfare programs.

Maybe not. But I don't think he would've been promoting them either. What he would have been promoting is that you personally take responsibility

We know what the Jesus character is reported to have said. And none of it had anything to do with any person making OTHER PEOPLE help he poor or anything like that.
