I would be interested in seeing the R vs. D comparison. And seeing the numbers as compared to the 2008 Primary.
Lots of theories about that.
Dem voting down...Repub voting up. Some folks are saying that Dems and Independents are crossing over to vote for Trump. The question is: why?
One theory says that Dem voters went to the open primaries and voted for Trump so that Hillary has an easier time in the general election. Another theory says that displaced Democrats went over to Trump to stay.
Which one is it?
I'd guess both...but far more people should be going to Trump than those just trying to get Trump set up for Hillary. The Democratic party LOVES to play to the Black population...and their fringe LOVES to perpetuate White Guilt. So who in the national Democratic party supports the lower economic Democratic White male voter?
No one.
No other party plays the race card more than the Dems. The media can't report a primary vote without saying that Clinton is winning because of the Black vote. Now add the Hispanics. Everyone can vote for someone as a race based block without being called racist...except White males. I'd have to believe that some White Democratic blue collar males would be sick of hearing, every single day, about how candidates represent every other demographic but theirs.
Yup, it is OK for Team Brown to support Rubio or Cruz. If he isn't their man, they'll take their ball and go to Hillary...or stay home. Team Black can vote for Obama...and now Hillary is playing that game and they are sucking it up. But holy crap...if White men support Trump, they are racists.
Trump, whatever he is...is breaking the Republican party. Rich Republicans, Black and White, don't represent the average White male. Nor does the national Dem party.
Trump is a caustic guy who won't play by the rule book. Kudos to him. I don't care if he talks like a blue collar bartender...as long as he screws the existing system and exposes it for what it is, I am for him. Then, perhaps we can get a middle ground party that supports most of America, and Americans...Black, White, Hispanic, whatever.
Here are a couple of articles that explain why the Repubs don't represent middle America. Long...but pretty damned accurate.

Below, the fact that CNCB has two BILLIONAIRES talking about Trump not knowing about China's economy, and representing Kasich is stunning. Hedge fund people and capitalists are funding the exporting of our jobs...and these two clowns, who know nothing about middle America (except how to leverage their money for themselves) are supposed to convince average Repubs that they care about the middle guy?
Can they be any more disconnected from the base they want to try to recapture?
