After 8 years in office not many presidents are beloved...
In fact doesn't it typically swing to the other party after 8 years - pretty regularly..?

Don't count on that. The subsidies are what buys the Democrat Party votes. The bottom x% will always get something for nothing.SDHornet wrote:Look on the bright side, at $15 an hour a lot of them will make to much to qualify for gubmint subsidies.AZGrizFan wrote:

You do realize the cost of living will also go up right? Raising the min wage will do nothing...although raising it is fine by me. Context.IMF confirms what most Australian home buyers know already: only Belgium and Canada are more expensive
The IMF today revealed what most Australian home buyers already know – our housing market is among the most expensive in the world. The IMF’s Global Housing Watch has Australia ranked as the third least affordable place in the world to buy a house – behind only Belgium and Canada.
The data, which from now on will be updated quarterly, also charts the price of housing across the world. Its index shows the stark impact of the Great Recession which saw housing prices on average across the advance economic world fall up to 20%:

That poster is meaningless because the AVERAGE minimum wage in the US is a lot higher than $7.25- 30 states have a minimum wage higher than the fed $7.25, and even in states where it is $7.25 most McDonalds workers make more. The poster is meaningless unless you compared the avg wages of McDonalds workers in the US to those in Australia.kalm wrote:SDHornet wrote: You do realize the cost of living will also go up right? Re: Even the lefties don't defend Obama anymore.
When the left calls for minimum wage increases you never hear them called for a tiered system like in Europe (ex one level for 15-17 year olds, one for 18-20, and one for 21 and over), and you never see a tiered system among any of the states that implement higher minimum wages than the fed level . Should a 15 year old and 35 year old have the same minimum wage? Of course not. Teenagers living at home with mommy & daddy working their 1st no to low skill job(s) don't need to be treated the same as someone in their 20s-30s.

The minimum wage in Australia is tiered depending on age. $17.29 AUD per hour is the highest ($12.90 USD per hour according to today's exchange rate), and it is for someone over the age of 20. The lowest is a little over $6.00 AUD for people under 16, with incremental increases between 16 and 20.
Here is a little help for the ones who don't really understand the issue:
Public Data Holds the Key to Understanding the Minimum Wage Issue
Interesting exerpt:
Oh, to be like the Aussies. What’s more, there are multiple misconceptions about comparing the minimum wage across countries. The minimum wage in Australia, for example, is age dependent. For an 18-year-old worker (remember, most minimum wage earners in the U.S. are 16- to 24-year-olds), the minimum wage is 11.52 Australian dollars ($10.20). For a first-year apprentice, on the other hand, the minimum wage is only AU$9.28 ($8.22).
Consumer prices are also lower in the U.S. than Australia, so after adjusting for prices, the purchasing power equivalent of the Australian minimum wage for 18-year-olds is only $7.16 — about 9 cents less than the U.S. minimum wage. Even currency-adjusted comparisons are flawed — the gap is much smaller when you take purchasing power into account, and it’s almost non-existent for young workers.

Except all they're doing is taking LESS hours at MORE pay to keep income the same, and still qualify for subsidies. Great business plan.houndawg wrote:That's kind of the idea.SDHornet wrote: Look on the bright side, at $15 an hour a lot of them will make to much to qualify for gubmint subsidies.

I'm on record as supporting a stratified min wage similar to what BDK posted. I've also pointed out that the cost of living in Redmond vs Cheney should be a factor.

You live in an age when claiming "I'm great" and "everyone loves me" and "I the best negotiator there is" is a qualifying statement to be POTUS, and sadly garner a majority vote in conk primaries. Your FB meme' is equivalent to a 150 page research paper on the min wage matter.kalm wrote:What dissertation?Cluck U wrote:kalm's dissertation on wages just got shredded.![]()
