2016 NFL Offseason Signings/Trades/Picks

Post by tribe_pride »

So Free Agency starts today and some insane is happening

Osweiller goes to Texans for 4 years, $72 Million, $37 guaranteed. - WOW

Giants spending money like there is no tomorrow on their defense
- DE Oliver Vernon 5 years $85 Million, $52.5 Million guaranteed
- DT Damon Harrison 5 years, $46.5 Million, $24 Million guaranteed
- CB Janoris Jenkins 5 years, $62.5 Million $29 Million guaranteed
- DE Jason Pierre-Paul 1 year (up to $10 million) - ??? guaranteed

Oh yeah. And Manziel is still on the Browns while they lost their all-pro center Mack.

The Osweiler thing is interesting..
Many feel like it is not at all about money - he had done enough to win and was benched
and after that wanted out regardless

These players have a lot of pride
Osweiler knows he would have won that Superbowl game

In the game he got benched (final regular season game of the year), through one half and one series, the Broncos were down 13-7 and Osweiler had 1 TD, 2 INTs and 1 fumble lost.

Lose that game, they are 11-5 and have to play in the WC game against the Steelers then @Cincinnati and @Pats to get to the Super Bowl. Coach had to change things up and they won to get home field advantage throughout the playoffs and a bye in the 1st round. Osweiler may not have liked it but his QBR was 24th in the NFL and Quarterback Rating was 25th for the season. And he just got a pile of money. Understand he may be frustrated but the coach did the right thing.

I don't disagree with you...
But when you bench a player coming up on free agency you're taking a calculated risk
and in this case it backfired a little bit

The good news for the Bronco's is the risk payed off
They went on to win the Superbowl

The phase two part of the risk didn't pan out
But they had to win every game down the stretch as you mention

I like what the Vikings did. Nothing splashy but addressed needs in important ways allowing draft picks to be narrowed to a specific need or teo

Sanchez to the Broncos for a conditional pick I read. Wow if this is for the starter role. Good job Eagles even if they get a 6th or 7th rounder.

The Eagles will hopefully be back by the start of Hillary's second term. Gonna be a rough couple of years coming up.

Any predictions on Sanchez and the Bronco's..?
that one has me intrigued - I can't figure out why they TRADED for him
(wasn't he going to be released?)

The Eagle got a PICK for Sanchez (that"s a god damned miracle)
Roseman might be a witch or demon or something

Apparently 49ers also wanted him so that stopped him from being traded to them. According to below article, he could be used by the Broncos to get Kaepernick.

DePodesta will get the Browns headed in the right direction

RGIII will be the best QB under center they've had in a decade probably - so it is an upgrade there
and with the BROWNS front office now understanding "VALUE" things might get interesting

DePodesta is great at figuring out where teams "OVER VALUE" (See: Over pay) for talent
and where they don't recognize talent or under value certain skills
and their new coaching staff is an upgrade as well

If the ownership is smart enough to leave Jackson and DePodesta alone for 3 or 4 years
I would guess the Browns will be very competitive by then

Yeah, the problem is RGKnee can't manage to stay under center for more than a game or two. It's not his fault he's injury-prone, but it is what it is. :coffee:

And I believe they lost a lot on the offensive line so may be forced to try to scramble which could lead to more injuries. Hopefully not, but would not surprise me.
