That is brutal, but I was really talking about the days, not the opponents: Sat/Sun, Wed/Thurs, Sat/Sun and all three back to back sets are home and away so they are travelling between games for every one. That's just crazy.Grizalltheway wrote:Not that it really matters anymore, but these are the last 9 games for the Avs89Hen wrote: Caps certainly weren't playing like they had the PT sewn up. The fact that they brought it and the Flyers still won is a good sign for the Flyers. The only bad thing is their schedule is brutal... to be honest, it's really not even fair. Three back to back sets (one because of snow storm) with barely a day off... then they get to start a 7 game series if they can get through the gauntlet. I've never seen such a tough game schedule to end a season. Giant game looming next Wednesday in Detroit.

Just in time to jinx them, I ordered one of these a few minutes ago. I realized that the last Flyers hat I bought was in the late 90s.

Hextall for me. In fact, that was the only one. Bought it at that little hockey store near east campus. That place was awesome.89Hen wrote:My last Flyers jersey is Lindros.93henfan wrote:Just in time to jinx them, I ordered one of these a few minutes ago. Can't say that I recall such a place.93henfan wrote:that little hockey store near east campus. That place was awesome.
Re: NHL Playoffs
It was a true little mom and pop shop, run out of a house. He stocked everything for playing hockey. I'm surprised you were not aware of it. Pretty sure it was around S. Chapel and Continental, looking at Google Maps. Internet is giving me no info on its history at all. It's long closed now. Those guys couldn't compete once the Modells, Dicks, Sports Authority, etc all rolled in.89Hen wrote:Can't say that I recall such a place.93henfan wrote:that little hockey store near east campus. Doesn't really ring a bell. Of course I stopped playing ice hockey for a long time in HS and UD. Played a lot of intramural street and floor hockey but wouldn't have needed any gear for that. Not really surprising they would have had trouble... not a lot of ice hockey playing around Newark in the 80's other than the UD club team.93henfan wrote:It was a true little mom and pop shop, run out of a house. Bruins are toast. Two weeks ago I would have never predicted them to be the team on the outs.

Well I guess you have to bandwagon someone when your team is eliminated.Baldy wrote:Didn't know that was a requirement.93henfan wrote:

Actually, as a kid I was a Flames fan before they were moved from Atlanta to Calgary, but I've been a Pens fan since 1991.Grizalltheway wrote:Well I guess you have to bandwagon someone when your team is eliminated.Baldy wrote:

Not sure what year that was, but the Devils fans could gladly borrow the bag, since they won't be participating in the playoffs this year.Baldy wrote:93henfan wrote:Bandwagoner extraordinaire. Yankees, Cowboys, and Lakers are also taking new members.

Re: NHL Playoffs
With Pittsburgh and the Caps in the Metropolitan, the Isles, Rangers and Flyers should all fight to get 4th place in the division which would push them in the Atlantic for playoff purposes - I assume if both Boston and Detroit happen to get in, the 4th place team in the Atlantic will have fewer points than the 4th in the Metropolitan and will have to play the Caps in the 1st round since they will be the worst Wild Card team in the East. My guess though is that Metropolitan gets 5 teams in and Atlantic only 3 which would automatically push the 4th place team in the Metro to the Atlantic for the playoffs.
Not saying that the WC team will beat Florida or TB (whoever wins the Atlantic) but that is an easier road than having to go through Washington and Pittsburgh.
